Can we support each other in trying to lose weight?

I have a few pounds to lose (well, more like 40 pounds) in order to reach a healthy weight. I'm seeing a nutritional counselor and am wondering if people would like to cheer each other on and compare ideas, challenges and successes. For example, I had three power walks this past week, but had a few spoonfuls of tiramisu tonight. Has anyone lost a bunch of weight in the past year? How did you do it?

Dear Brenn: In addition to congratulating you about your phenomenal achievement, I also applaud you for getting your sugar under control. Ask your doctor about the benefits of cinnamon. Take good care of your feet as well as your pet's. When you have diabetes you need to take extra care in not cutting your feet. You should even have your pedicure done in a podiatrist's office. It's good to wear Crocs or at least socks, when walking around the home, and definitely when you step out. I bet a stationary bike would be great for you, or working out with s DVD. Please keep me posted!!!!
Congratulations once more,
C.

I never really did understand about the feet through. But i will take care esp when the summer comes where i did love to go barefooted, have to wear sandels from now on.

I have to lose about the same amount! Seeing a nutritionist is a great start, in my opinion. They have a much better view on food and diet than family doctors. I try not to gain anymore weight by not over stuffing myself on huge portions. I will grab a smaller dish to fill with food - I can always have the rest later. There was a blog i once read that the person was using the sizing of Bento boxes in order to control her portions.
Also great to start some exercise, I think it's a good idea to work towards like a goal like a marathon for instance. You will feel better training for something, and also looking forward to completing your goal! Also with things like marathons you will probably also feel great earning money for a cause you support. I have heard of people using this method, and it seemed to work for them.
If you could get a personal trainer, that could probably work too. They are trained to help people find their limits and work at them. I read this article about a woman who found a wonderful trainer that worked great for her and her husband.
I wish you much luck + sympathy!!

Hi Angelkitten, I really like the idea of using a smaller plate, and Bento boxes sound like a very creative way of managing portions! I also like the idea of training for a marathon. So far I've been powerwalking once or twice a week but really need to step up to at least three or four times. I know that would make a huge difference. Thanks so much for your comments, information, good luck wishes and sympathy!!!

Hi Leeannmarie,
Congratulations on your 25!
Yes, being diabetic really plays tricks with your metabolism. It's not so bad to plateau, though. It's great that you walk and workout regularly. I don't know if you're on medication or not, but I understand cinnamon is great for lowering sugar... Maybe drinking green tea can help, because it has thermogenic properties. And sometimes it helps to change the workout routine, to surprise the body... Please let me know what your thoughts are on this.
Again, congratulations!!!

Hi Janebernal, I totally understand, because my husband is a wonderful cook, too. I once lost 10 pounds on a trip to Mexico because even though the food is delicious, I walked so much, it didn't stick to me. I love Filipino food, so I understand that it would be difficult to resist. Sometimes they say that cutting down one thing (like rice?) can make a difference over time... For me, it helps to not eat cheese, for example. My nutritional counselor suggested that the days I can't find time for a walk, that I go up and down the stairs 5 times, going up quickly and down, slowly. Have a beautiful day!
Sincerely,
C.

I would definatly love to be included in this! I have approximatly abother 42 pounds to lose until my "goal weight". I had lost 40 pounds before and gained back 30 of it when my diet and life started to conflict :p
I usually do dance dance revolution for a little while everyday but latley i was in the middle of a move so that was also put on hold.
I lost the 40 pounds because I was sick for a while and eating was pretty hard to do after losing the weight I realized that I would like to keep it off, however once I got better the weight piled back on and now I am trying to lose it all again before I get too obese but without some mutual support it is so hard! I would love to join in the support thread! Feel free to send me pm's about it

Hello Vulgarlittleprincess (Luv the name!). I hope you're feeling a lot better. Count me in for support! Tell me about Dance Revolution, please. And please let me know what pm's are, because I'm quite new here. I understand that starting the day with a cup of herbal tea with lemon starts the day on a healthy note. I'll check in with you again. Please stay in touch!

If you keep up the power walks, you can still eat the tiramisu. With the ALL-Natural product I use there is no need to change your diet. I began using it about 10 months ago, I wasn't extrodiarily overweight but I was beside myself as I had always had been active and had the athletic type build at 5'10" 160lbs for years. I was up to about 180 and was disgusted with myself, i searched for a solution as I became active again and didn't see the pounds going away. I came across this product that seemed a little on the unrealistic side and odd. Well, I gave it a try! In the first 3 weeks I lost 17lbs using it as directed daily and had fun at the same time, most people laughed at me.. I take critisism as constructive and it gives me more of a drive to overcome battles of any caliber. Of course I had some support as well as the critisism, now all those that critisized me say WOW.. you look great! Guess what... I get the last laugh, yep.."I did it with the product you laughed about" Now, they all want to try it and ask me for it because you can not buy it in stores, only from the manufacturer or a local distributor.... I am now a distributor and buy it wholesale and sell to my friends and family that are all getting great results. This product is fun, effective and has a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back. Check it out, if you have any questions or concerns, send me a message.
