Do you eat regularly or do you eat when you feel like it?

We usually have different types of activities and this may lead to an irregular time of eating habits depending on our hunger. Some people will eat outright when hunger sets in but as for me, I usually eat on a regular time that I am used to. So if hunger comes in early, I usually wait for my meal time rather than find food right away to satisfy my hunger. How about you, do you wait or just find food and indulge the moment hunger sets in even when its not your meal time?

I will usually try and eat my regular meals, and at regular times too. In between, I try not to snack as this may cause me to overeat unnecessarily. I've never had any gastric problems due to irregular eating, and I intend to keep it that way. Some people eat all the time whenever their stomachs call, while some skip meals or eat at irregular hours due to their busy schedule or other priorities that occupy their time.
Scientists have found from studies that overweight people have the worst eating habits. They skip meals, eat irregularly and when they come home, they overeat during dinner. Skipping meals puts one's body into starvation mode that slows one's metabolism. That's why if someone usually skips meals, it makes it difficult for him/her to stay slim. That's why I think it is best to eat regularly and not skip any meals.

Yes, I do hope to keep my health in good shape for many years to come. Probably the best recipe I know is to manage your stress, eat regularly (but not overeat), have regular exercise and cut down on unhealthy food. I heard this saying that 'Those who indulge, bulge'. There's some truth in this, I must say.

Yes, I do agree with you. In fact some people wanted to lose weight but the problem is if they do that they end up eating more later on. Sad to think that if you eat to much during dinner, there is always the tendency that the food will not be properly digested since we will be sleeping already. So it much better to eat light during dinner. I am happy that you have such a good regular meal. I'm sure that it will lead to a healthy mind and body.

I am very particular and consistent in my eating habits.I take my break fast at 8.30 AM.And I take some snakes or oats at 11.30 AM.And 1.30 is my lunch time.Evening coffee with snacks at % P.M And my dinner is at 9 pm.And after that it is my TV time with my milk and fruits. If I take snacks in between I reduce my regular intakes.

Right, that would be very good. We as parents are the best teacher to our children. In fact we are the first teacher even before they start schooling. So if we show them the right and proper way by example, then they will also follow it by heart. Eat well and live healthy.

I am both regular and irregular. I can't say that my dinnertime is at a particular time but when I wake up (whenever that is) I eat breakfast... after that I eat lunch and then after that I eat dinner.
My wife is the one who fixes the food in the house so I eat when she is ready to serve the dinner.
Great discussion

I'm pretty unscheduled about eating. Im basically a "grazer."
When I'm very involved with something, I ignore my hunger for quite awhile.
If I was working, I'm sure meals would be more scheduled.

No, jpso -- I'm not offended. If you saw me, you'd see that I haven't missed many meals.
Actually, I have a problem -- I'm way too short -- LOL.

I am always eating! I snack too much, and I love my food! It's not addiction it's just that I'm active and I tend to get hungry quick. I munch on fruit rather that chocolate, cakes and biscuits so that's why I'm not heavy! I like lots of small meals and snacks rather than big meals to keep me satisfied. I also go out for long walks too which gives me a good appetite. Anytime of the day for me is good to eat.

I usually eat whenever hunger sets in. I dont wait for lunch or dinner time. I eat when I want. But that is gonna have to change soon. As my daughter is almost at that age where I have to start cooking breakfast and lunch and dinner. So then at that point I will probably wait till its time to eat or find a snack to curve my hunger for a bit.

I see. Well we all have to make adjustments most especially for children. They also need the best nutrients possible. As a parent we make adjustments for our children because we always want the best for them. Do take care and best of health to your family!

We have our regular meals at our regular times, but we do snack in between. Usually it may be a banana, apple, some cereal, or in the evening, I will have some yogurt with nuts and berries. I try to avoid making cakes because that will be a snack between lunch and dinner. I am rather like a grazer. If there is something to eat, I will find it. I cannot stand being hungry.

Yes, it is very important to eat when your pregnant. Its also important to be careful on what you eat. As much as possible it should be something of nutritional value since what you eat will also go to your baby. Its not good for you to let hunger be since your baby will suffer also. Obviously, it needs food and proper nutrients to develop. Do take care friend and may you and your baby be well and fine!

In our family we eat meals at regular time. By doing this, it helps to regulate your metabolism. If our schedule is chaotic or someone is hungry before our regular meal time, we keep small, healthy snacks on hand such as cheese or grapes.
good question

Sounds like perfect plan. You are right in so far as metabolism is concerned. I also do what you do for my child, some extra snacks on hand. However, some of the snack I have are junk. The good thing with yours is its healthy. Well, wishing the best of health for you and your family.

I ususally eat when i feel hungry, but i eat small little snacks all through the day and then eat at lunch with my daughter and if i'm babysitting the little girl i babysit as well. When it was just me i would eat just whenever if i wasn't working, when you work i guess you gotta eat when they provide you with the time. lol.

Yes, there is always an alloted time for eating. Sometimes other people can eat better on time due to the time schedule at work. However, there are also people who doesn't mind the time for eating since they are so busy with their work or there are deadlines to meet. Taking in small snacks is not bad. I believe it is also a way to control the tummy from bulging.

I prefer eating on regular intervals and on fixed times. I prefer having my breakfast between 8.30 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. in the morning, lunch between 1300 hrs to 1400 hrs and dinner between 2000 hrs to 2030 hrs. I try not to eat snacks etc. in between.

Talking about self control and healthy eating habit. I believe you have a very nice set up insofar as eating habits are concerned. As you can see, by having this regular time, your body metabolism is very good and most likely your bowel movement is also on a regular basis which is healthy indeed. Best of health!

I pretty much eat when I feel like it. I don't have any set time for making meals or snacking. I have tried to be more consistent about making dinner and having it at a decent hour now that my son is living with me. I think routine even for meals is important for someone his age.

This is the one problem that I have that I really need to start working on- I NEVER eat regularly. I eat when the feeling arises- so sometimes I don't eat until 1 or 2 pm in the day- which I know can't be very good for me. I want to start eating breakfast- but never have an appetite in the mornings :(

Well you don't have to worry about breakfast, we are together on this. I also don't take breakfast. A cup of coffee will last me till lunch. Do I believe that this is somewhat unhealthy since breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I eat breakfast when I get around to it however I'll cook supper around 5:30 and 6:30. We don't go to bed till after midnight so we get the munchies so we'll snack on potato chips or cookies.

well i'm also one of those that eat when hunger sets in. i tend to snack a lot. i usually can't hold for that long when i'm hungry so i'll find something to satisfy my hubger. i think it may partly be because of me eating all the snacks that i tend not to like lunch and meal times that well. i mean i eat rice and all during those times so i don't really like to eat them. i do like to eat bread though.

I see, you are also a very practical person. But somehow, if you take in much and snack all the time, it might not be good since we should be taking in foods with nutrients for a healthy body. I also see a lot of people eating a lot of junk foods for snacks and in a way, loss the appetite during standard meal time. Well I do hope you are taking in good foods on your snacks. Eat well to live well and my best wishes to you.
