Helium - a site for writers.

Helium.com is a relatively new concept, though one that is taking off in a big way. What it offers to the membership is the chance to write on whatever topic they wish, as long as the premise of the article is to add knowledge to the huge databank of knowledge already on the site. During my membership of Helium what I have found is that it offered me both incentive and encouragement and that it does reward good quality work. While in the beginning stages of membership, members are disappointed with earnings, what they fail to appreciate is the potential of the earnings they will achieve on a monthly basis from a good portfolio of great quality articles and it is here that Helium excels. For those thinking of joining a site like helium, take a look at the front pages to see the type of articles and the sheer range of topics available. Press the different channels and find areas of interest. When I first joined many of my articles were European orientated and I found that by developing and widening my style, what happened was that the reward was enormous. I now have over 1000 articles and earn tremendous money. Writers in all sectors including creative writers and journalistic writers are all welcome and all earn. Ever get paid for your poetry ? It's a wonderful concept and a nice mixture of factual articles and creative work has super returns though patience in the first couple of months is essential. SO HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY ? By writing articles about things that interest you, and by keeping your standard as high as possible, bearing in mind site guidelines. I find that writing around 1000 words per article is best and these need to be written to word and then pasted over. If you don't know how to do this, someone will show you. That's the difference with Helium. Someone will help. PROFILE Your profile is the gateway to your work. Presented professionally, what happens is that you may get approaches from editors looking for work, so make yours look great. Personally, I have now had five approaches. COMMUNITY Many people don't even notice the community but its there to answer questions and to help you join in with the whole spirit of the site, getting to know other writers, networking with them and getting valuable feedback and advice. It's one of the friendliest writing websites I have ever experienced and the enthusiasm pours off its pages. Go to the community if you doubt my words and press the section called Helium Success stories because it's all spelt out by different members who are making the most of the experience. You can too if you are a writer because the overall purpose of a site like Helium is that no matter what walk of life you come from, from the housewife to the brain surgeon, from the political expert to the voter, the gathering of knowledge gives an overall picture of facts and your part in it can be rewarded well.

I Love Helium! I joined last year and have had so much fun writing and reading on the site. The community is one of the best parts of the site for me. Connecting with new friends who all have a passion for knowledge and writing. Most everyone on Helium is friendly and I've had a great experience working with everyone. I have invited several of my friends and plan to invite as many people as I can to the site because it is a great way to earn some extra money sharing our points of view and knowledge. I would encourage everyone to join Helium and help us grow it to one of the most informative sites available on the web! Helium Rocks!

Helium is great isn't it! The best thing is that it's growing so fast - and that can only be good for all its members. Great to have you on board!

Thank you for a clear and concise introduction. I have already looked at Helium and have it down on my list of places to publish. The TOS seem good and the method of sharing is clearly explained - as is the possibility of earning more if a publisher wants to buy an article. I didn't have much chance to browse and I did feel that both the browsing capabilities and the search engine could be improved to make it easier to find specific information, however, I speak from the knowledge that creating a good search engine for a database of articles like this is not exactly a garden party! I have no doubt that, as Helium grows, they will address the user interface of the site from a searcher's point of view. As I see it, it is the single most important thing that would increase the exposure of its writers!

Yes owlwings, I think that Helium are addressing these issues and when you consider that the site evolved in the last year from 100 word articles through to the quality its writers submit now, it is pretty astounding and the staff very very responsive, so something is right there. I really do look forward to reading you there.

Wow, thanks for the details you provided! I am a member of helium and indeed it's been interesting so far, except for the rating part. I love the fact that I could build up my own writing profile there according to my own space and slowly build up the money there. I am happy with it so far and I think I will keep writing there whenever I can *smiles*.
