Craig's List? E-Bay? Will You Please Help Me?

It's been awhile since I have been able to post on MyLot. I have been staying with one of my daughters and she is in a dreadful position at this time. She worked for a company that she planned to retire from for over 13 years; then the company "downsized" and she lost her job. She has been working for a temp agency for the past 4 years and her last job just ended. She was a very independent woman and owned a beautiful home and a great SUV. My granddaughter is in her Senior year of high school.
Right now my daughter's house is in foreclosure, she had to borrow $2000 from a friend to save her vehicle from being taken from her.
I am only saying this because I have given as much as I can and am also broke now. What I am wanting to do is to quit my Work At Home Party business and sell the stock that I brought with me as quickly as possible so we have some cash on hand "right now".
She will be getting her first unemployment check in 2 weeks, and I will be having another check deposited in 2 weeks.
I do have enough stock on hand that I can bring in a couple hundred dollars if I can sell it quickly.
My question is, Can someone please tell me the easiest and quickest way to do this? I apologize for dumping all of this on my friends; but you are all the BEST and I know that if you have answers, you will give them to me. Thank you so much.~Donna

I would say it would be ebay. I've never used Craigs List though.
I'm sorry to hear of all of you and your daughters troubles too.
We've missed you around her as well :)
Please let me know what you end up doing and I'll check it out!

Thank you GnosticGoddess for your answer. I have been given another option of a site called "Mojo" that is available in several of the larger cities. A friend of my daughter's suggested that I open an account in Louisville Mojo. Perhaps I will start there tomorrow???? I will most certainly post any results that I get. ~Donna

Hi, kitchenwitchoftupper. I have sold on both Ebay and Craigslist many times. You will get a much larger audience on Ebay, but there are also costs associated with selling on Ebay. You have to pay a listing fee and Ebay gets a portion of your final sales price. On Craigslist you can list for free, but the people you deal with won't have ratings the way Ebay does (on Ebay you can read people's feedback ratings). With Ebay you have some protection if someone tries to rip you off, Craigslist is a bit riskier. Also, even though Ebay is an auction site, you can list items as "Buy It Now" with a set price. If I were you, I would maybe list a few things on both Ebay and Craigslist and see what happens. Personally, I never accept personal checks from anyone but if you do, make sure the check completely clears before you send the merchandise to the buyer. You can state this policy in your listing. Good luck!

I would not recommend selling things on Ebay because of all the fees; try Blujay or Ecrater. they're both free sites where you can list stuff to sell to people all over the world.

i am sorry about the situation going on, we are in a financial situation as well. I myself am 16 and trying my hardest to find a job so i can help my parents pay stuff i know $8 an hour wont help all that much but its a start.
For Craig's List.. its an easy quick sell place.. a lot of teenagers and middle aged men look on that. So if any of your stuff appeals to them then go for it.
eBay is more for collectors, so if you have rare things or collectible items then go more for eBay, it has fee's and things like that but if they are collectibles then it should be worth it.
If you are looking to sell the stock, then i wish anybody could help you.. but thats a hard one. Its more of how greedy can you get.. Its more of gambling when you do the stocks. The only advice i can give you is, sell it for at least more then you bought it.
I wish I could help you more.
I shall pray for you and your situation.

I think you should try Craiglist first. Ebay charges way too much. I have gotten good results with Craigslist. I wish you. Let us know how it turns out.

Lolala, Thank you for responding. I was thinking this is probably the way to go, but know nothing about either one; other than the fact that I know all too well how to BUY from e-bay!~Donna

OMG--that's terrible about your daughter's problems..so many people are unfortunately are having to foreclose their homes..and are being downsized....and gee, they the "experts" say our economy is doing well? For whom?
I'm not really all that familiar with Craig's list for selling things, so your best shot might be e-bay...what do you sell? Think you mentioned something about Tupperware??? The only problem is, is that there are fees involved with listing things with e-bay..I think too with Craig's list.

Thank you for your concern, it is deeply appreciated. Yes, I do sell Tupperware, but I am still thinking of getting out of the business temporarily and depleting my stock just to help out.~Donna
