I have had her since she was a baby but she just won't come near me. Everytime anyone walks near her she runs off. She won't let anyone hold her or anything. I don't know what to do! Any ideas?

Is this a new behavior or is it a sudden change? If your cat has always been like this; it takes a lot of time, patience, and treats. Placing her favorite treats beside you and then ignoring her will get her to slowly come up to you; but, do not try to touch her yet. Put the treats closer and closer until they are on your lap and she will start to feel safe there. Then slowly just place your hand besdie her and ignore her some more. When she is OK with that place your hand on her while she is eating her treat in your lap. It is not a fast process but it does work. If this is a NEW behavior; it could be one of 2 things: 1) Someone or something has scared her badly. A post-traumatic stress problem. OR 2) She is sick and/or in pain. Sick/hurt animals will try to avoid other animals and people. Take her to a vet. I could be something she ate, cancer, or some other problem that you cannot see.

If she was friendly before then she could either be pregnant our cat did this when she was expecting, or if you live on a street she could have been hurt by someone. Of course it could be none of these.

It's easy. You be the one to give your cat food. When you call your cat. Say it gently. As your cat is eating, a gentle touch and combing with your hand is ok, until such time it will naturally be nice to you!
