IS it the people in it or the music that they sing or even the way they dress I was just wondering how people think.

A good band is a combination of a few things. First of all they have to be able to play music that appeals to people tastes or maybe just yours. Secondly they need a presence about them. They need to have a way with people that makes be envy them. Also, showsmanship is always nice. If a band can't work a crowd, they really are worth seeing. I'm a punk rocker, and I can tell you that I have seen plently of up and coming bands that blow terribly but such amazing stage presence that I went and saw them again.

yep, it's not just the music. Showmanship is definitely to do with it aswell as charisma, presence and being able to please their audience. My gf didn't like the wildhearts but couldn't stop moving when she went to see them, she loved it.
