it slows down my pc and the worst thing is most of our files became corrupted... especially our saved games... =(
according to my friend this is a type of hydra virus... i always scanned my computer and always deleting those virus..however it does not seem my anti virus software (AVG) totally get rid of it..as a result, i need to rescan my pc at least twice a day...
are there any anti virus software that "effectively" removes "hydra virus"?
thanks in advance

I know this may be something you might not want to hear. But Virus and malware authors have gotten so good and so efficient these days that the only way to be positively sure to rid your system of malware is to use your recovery disk that came with your system or your original windows install disk and wipe your hard drive clean, then reinstall a fresh copy of windows.
Back up all of your data first of course (no programs).
I am not too familiar with the hydravirus, but I'm assuming that you didn't have a security suite installed when you got it, which means you could have a lot more than that hiding under the hood of your operating system with no knowledge.
Some malware these days can bore itself right down to the core of your operating system (root kits) and be virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your legitimate O.S. So running an anti-virus/malware program after the fact would have no effect.
Not saying that there is no other way to remove it all, but it's pretty much the only way to be sure, and in the end can usually end up being less work.

Duh, I totally flaked and didn't notice you said you had avg installed. Yeah, I think Zeloguy is right, you need a better antivirus. You want something that's going to catch stuff BEFORE it intalls itself. I know the full Security suits that you pay for can be a pain because they are a resource hog sometimes, but some of them are worth it. Check out the reviews to some free ones first like the one mentioned by zeloguy and maybe some paid ones as well, depending on your situation. But once If I were infected, I would be looking just to start fresh.

hi cyborg...
my friend already mentioned about cleaning up my disk... and yeah i does not really sounds good to me... unless i don't have other option... he also mentioned that if ever i don't want to clean up my disk, i should try first McAfee 2008... is McAfee really that good?
thanks for the response and happy posting...

From the reviews I have been hearing lately about security suites I think Norton Trumps Maccafee. So you may want to go with Norton if you are going the paid route for anti virus. But I would suggest you try some of the free options that some of the people here have suggested first to see what happens. It couldn't hurt.

I am not sure if this will work for you or not. When I did a search through ask.com I found this page. Oops, can't copy and paste, so I will send you a private message. Good luck!
