Grocery Shopping

I'm moving out in a few days and I need groceries. I have never been grocery shopping on my own before. My Dad usually buys things like; mini pizzas, chicken nuggets, microwave dinners, canned soup... stuff that's tastey but not overly healthy. I want to buy healthy low cal foods, but, as i've never been let loose in a grocery store alone before, i have no idea what to be looking for. I don't like vegetables, at all. What low cal health foods do you like and suggest?

I know you're not very big into vegetables, but I usually buy things like frozen broccoli and cauliflower, frozen corn, canned beans, nutrgrain bars, special K cereal, skim milk, apples, oranges, whatever fruit is in season, diet green tea, chicken, pork chops, ground hamburger, pickles, I can't believe it's not butter spray, various flavored rice cakes, a couple bags of premixed salad, Light ranch dressing (I prefer the wishbone brand), gerber biter bisquits (they're 90 calories each! Me and maddie share. They're great!) and or course whatever I ran out of. Before I go to the store I look through the fridge and make sure I have the basics, like eggs, milk, ketchup, mustard, bread, salt, pepper. Just go through a checklist.

That is a good idea, going through the fridge for the basics I mean. I found a bag of frozen berries, theyre only 70 calories for a cup I think. I also bought some sugar snap peas, lettuce tomatoes and some low calorie yogurt that does not have any artificial sweetners in it. I use kraft italian dressing, it has only 5 calories for one tablespoon. I think I might buy a box of eggwhites next time I am at the grocery store. Special k cereal is good and really healthy too. I love it.

if you like to cook, then you can go to the produce and get fresh items to cook. or you can go for the cans of soup. those are always good to eat and you can add some bread or some fruit. you can also get the mini frozen pizzas or some tv dinners. there are a lot of possiblities out there

I'm afraid i'm not much of a help. I dread going food shopping and when I do end up going it buy just what i need for that one night or two. You can go more for certain fruits or rice cakes?

I would hope so. I did end up with some really healthy foods which is good. Unfortunatly I do not relaly have muh a selection going on. Maybe next time I am at the grocery store i will find some more options to chose from.
