Is it true that you gain more with shorter discussions in MyLot?

I joined MyLot a little over a month ago. I used to write long dissertations about various interesting topics. I got a lot of kudos for my writing in the responses. But I notice a lot of members who write short discussions (and pardon me, some are silly discussions without much substance) who get high ratings and stars. Recently, I started writing shorter discussions about superficial subjects. Let's see if I finally get one of those stars. Will you rate me already?

In order to get star rating you need to have reached 100 myLot rating. Your really close, and I think you will start to see all your hard work and contribution start to pay off soon. I am also looking forward to hitting that 100 mark, so I can see where my star rating is sitting right now. But it looks like you are off to a terrific start!

I would like to know how to get the stars also as I have just started posting on here. I have posted many replies to things but only have $.25. It seems like you don't make anything on here for all of your effort.

Just keep working at it! If you've already made $0.25 then it sounds like you are off to a good start. If your here to make a ton of money, this probably isn't the place for you. There are some awesome people here and some great discussion topics, the earnings are just kind of a nice perk. However, if you are looking at expanding your earnings I suggest trying to get yourself some active referrals. You make 25% of whatever your referrals make, and that can really add up over time. Cheers and good luck.

The length of your discussions makes no difference to whether you get your star or not... you have to reach one hundred points before your first star is awarded. I fail to see how people posting short and meaningless discussions get rated highly because Mylot don't rate short, one sentence, meaningless discussions. You need to post quality discussions, of at least three sentences to get anywhere. The same with your initial response to somebody else's discussion. I often write quite long discussions and people don't mind reading them, because they enjoy my writing. On the other hand, there are those out for a "quick buck" who can't be bothered to read a longer discussion. Still, I've come quite a long way in fourteen months, and I don't intend to change now. I would say go with what you feel comfortable with. Brightest Blessings in the hope you get your first star soon. :)

I personally would ignore superficial subjects and go for the good discussions, you will get a star when you hit 100 posts or answers, I am not to sure if you get paid more for longer posts but I do know you get paid better if you get a real discussion going, so think of something that might interest a lot of people and then put it under the proper interest, and that should help you along. I always go to discussions from my interests first and friends discussions next. most of the time I find something worth my time to answer, and welcome to my lot it is a fun place to be most of the time Robin

Thank you for the warm welcome and words of wisdom. In the short time I've been involved here, I find that I can't go 1 day without logging on mylot. And despite some shallow discussions, I find that there's always something interesting to read or respond to.

Well, you will get a star after you have made 100 posts. I don't know if it matters how long or short your discussions are to get responses. I just find that I get more responses when I post something that is easy to respond to.

I understand your way of thinking. I just got from star rank 2 to 6. 10 is the best star rank and 1 the worse. When i had star rank 2 I was surprised that people with very marginal answers had star ranks like 8 or 9 sometimes while I made some better answers and had 2. I think that their friends just rate their comments with a +. Not because it are good comments but because its a friend. Well I just continued posting and now I have already 6 so its on the good way. Hope you get a nice star rank too when you have 100 posts! My + you have :)

Everything that I've been told from others here as well as the guidelines have indicated the opposite is true. Maybe it's not exactly "the longer the better" but I've heard that longer responses tend to earn more than the shorter ones, although there are short but sweet replies that can also be worth a fair amount. As for whether I'll rate you, I give most posts pluses with the exception of those that are meaningless, totally off-topic or abusive and against the rules. So, chances are you'll get a lot of positive ratings from me! Annie

I dont belive that shorter discussions earn more on mylot. What does lead to more earning is the amount of traffic or respond your discussion receives. So it doesnt matter if you discussions short or long if theres no respond theres very little earning. However i still belive long discussion earn more because obviously more time in put in ! you may be right to honestly it's something to look into..

No it is not true. It is quite the opposite. the longer your response or discussion is the more moeny you make for it. I try to respond by at least 4 to 5 sentences. I tried one day, to just respond short responses and I hardly made anything that day. I think I did about 40 responses and I only earned about 10 cents. Now I do about 20 good lengthy responses and I make about 35 cents for them. So I would suggest to you to make your responses and discussions of a good length and then you don't have to do as many and you will earn the maximum amount for it, which should work out to be more money for you.

hi pete baja. this is one of my biggest question too. i have done some responds but i got nothing increase in my earnings. so i realized that my respond were not long enough. then i wonder how long a respond will be counted as an earned respond? my upline said that it's minimum three lines respond will be counted as earned respond. is that true? (i don't think so) i had some respond that more than three lines but still earned nothing

hi, I also wonder about this one. I just joined myLot recently, but I keep posting a lot per day. sometimes my earning rate fluctuated so I don't think that we will gain more with shorter discussion in myLot. I don't know about the stars but now I get it, when we reach 100 post, it will appear.
