Why, in America, do people have to have goals ?

If people just want to take life as it comes, what is wrong with that ?
We cannot teach people to have goals, we cannot tell people to have goals.
A goal in life is something we either want, or we do not.
And if we do, we dont need anybody to tell us anything.
