I feel as if marriage is becoming sort of a joke. The problem i have is that there very few young couples who are getting married who ARE NOT christian. That means that the majority of young married couples ARE christian. So why is this? I'm not really sure what the reason for it is. Are they rushing for intimacy? Are the pressured by their parents or guardians? What do you think?

I am not sure where you are gathering that most new young couples that are getting married are christian. That seems like an odd statement.
As far as those who are christian I believe it is a requirement to separate Catholic from the rest. Every other demonination allows people to divorce. Catholics are very forceful and unforgiving, which is probably the most ironic thing.
You will find that young people are not rushing into intimacy. Well, actually, they are, but not by way of marriage. Parents only usually push their children if there is a pregnancy involved.
Many times it is not parent pressure but parent example. Although it is obvious that there is a rebelling group that does the opposite of their parents.

I'm not sure that religion really has any part in it. I'm 20 years old and I know people that are my age and married, some are religious, and some are not. I don't think that marriage is a joke, yes, some peoples marriages don't last, but some defnitely do, and age/religion usually doesn't play the biggest role in whether is does or doesn't last.

hi, I don't think that marriage is becoming sort of a joke for many people, maybe for some of them. however, about young couples who are getting married, well, not always non-christian because I know some Christian friends that have gotten married at such a young age, some of them felt that they were ready enough, some of them were pressured by their parents, some of them were rushing for 'age' (having children before they became too old). I think this applies the same to the non-Christian friends of mine. so ... depends on each pairs of two persons, I guess.
