Serious Question.....Why are people from other countries so critical of Bush?

Just a question, I'm not trying to ruffle feathers or anything, I'm just curious. Even people in countries that we haven't "invaded" have very strong opinions on him. Why?

I am from the United States so I can say this in all fairness... the problem that a lot of people have is that we are intolerant of any country that isn't run the way ours is. No not everyone is a democracy but is that really any of our business? I'm not saying that I agree or disagree on any thing b/c that wasn't the question you ask but I think that most countries feel like the US is a bully.

tsmeesa98 - You have hit the nail on the head 100% with your comment. I would say the problem the vast majority of people have is the apparent intolerance of the United States towards anything that does not fit in with their view of the world. I also think many people regard the US as an overbearing bully. I think most Americans would be genuinely shocked if they knew how they were perceived (rightly or wrongly) by the rest of the world - and I'm not just talking about the Middle East or wherever. These negative views did not start with Iraq but I think Iraq has hugely exacerbated the situation. Hopefully once Bush is gone some of the damage can be reversed.

There are millions of people in this country that are critical of Bush. I think people from other countries are critical of every president we have simply because they see the US as an invasive power. We seem to stick our noses into everyone elses business and people don't like that. That is my take on it, anyway. I try to stay our of politics because I think pretty much all politicians are crooked in some way.

I agree with about staying out of politics, however, as I read some of the posts on here, I can't help but notice how angry people are at him. (which is understandable)Just curious about this stuff. Thankyou for your response.

You are just saying you don't think he is a good President but how many Presidents have you lived under??Of those Presidents which ones did you think were good and why?The big question is do you have enough information and experience to know whether or not George Bush is a good President?I believe Bush has been a very good President. As good as Reagan was and better in some respects and not as good as Reagan in other respects. You can gripe about the economy all you want and yell about the deficit. But the deficit is only 2.3% of the total GDP. The economy is growing at a rate of 5.4% this year. Unemployment is very low and jobs are truly plentiful if you want to work. The one area where I believe Bush has fallen down is on illegal immigration. There needs to be a program of prosecuting employers who hire illegals and there should be a national database of SSN's that are checked immediately for any person wishing to be hired on a job. If these reforms were put in place then illegal immigration would be a thing of the past in the US. Bush has had the strength to stand up to foreign dictators and say enough is enough mostly to his own detriment. He is in negotiation with two more as we speak trying to stem their nuclear ambitions. I have not seen a President willing to do that much since Reagan was in office. I get tired of the people who yell about Katrina and how the govt was slow to respond. What about the govt of Lousiana and New Orleans? They put the idiot mayor back in office. What was their responsibility that they were so slow?I believe Bush has done a fine job in office and will continue to do a fine job through 2008.

I didn't just say he wasn't a good President. I didn't say anything out of the way about him. I don't have the right to complain or rejoice in a President that I didn't vote for, so I can't speak for any other Presidents besides Clinton and Bush. My experience under their administration is not relevent to the question I was asking. BTW....Thank you for your response.

jihad jihad ...there are a lot of middle easterners on this site and they have to live closer to that stuff than we do and they have their own propaganda they have to hear everyday just like we have ours here..so I don't blame them for their judgments I do not guess or their stress...but yes I want to get into some arguments sometimes

I think they are just jealous of what the United States have. Most of them hate Bush and hate Americans but they would all love to live in the United States.

Thank you for your opinion, however, I think there is plenty of justification. Thousands of innocent people killed in the World Trade Center and Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. That's some peoples idea of justification. However, I agree that we've left ourselves vulnerable for more terrorist attacks.

I'm a Canadian who dislikes the Bush Administration. I'm quite happy with where I live, but I think the invasion of Iraq has made North American more of a target for terrorism. It's not about jealousy; it's about disapproving of a president that declared war on another nation with no justification.

He is like a caricature of everything that people suspected was true of American politics. He is where he is because of his daddy and his money. He is charmless, uneducated, intolerant, insensitive, lacks perception or empathy, he stinks of corruption. Clinton - a man who, I suspect, was no stranger to corrupt practices - was exactly the opposite and hugely popular outside the US. I met Clinton (well he briefly shook my hand!) when he visited Britain. Huge crowds turned out to see him and he could hardly have had a better reception. When Bush came here no-one could get near him the security was so tight - the authorities knew he would get a very different reception from the British public. I think people are just genuinely baffled that this is the man you elected as President. There again unbelievably the UK elected Blair as PM again so I guess we are as bad as each other!
