why do parents fight?

infront of me.. and when i try to defend my mom from my dad..my mom gets mad at me for "talking back" to my dad.. and vice-versa with my dad towards my mom. its like a loose loose situation from what i see.. so i thought i would jus stay out of it.. and they said i was rebelling cause i wouldnt talk to them while they were fighting. gosh what do i do?
