Women in Rock

I was just browsing around youtube and it dawned on me that there are now more women in rock than there have been for years. Evanescence, flyleaf, paramore to name some of the mainstream ones. I know during the 80's there were several women but I believe the 90's was a dry decade for women in rock. I know that rock is generally a male dominated genre but I feel that women offer something new and exciting. They have a different voice and way saying and doing things that I think is good for rock as a whole. Do you have the same take on it. Or women in music in general.
