My daughter is treating me to a scrapbooking weekend retreat! It's my belated birthday present and a chance for some mother/daughter time. It begins on Friday at noon and ends Sunday at 4pm. We will have a room with a ocean view, the only meal we have to provide for ourselves is Saturday dinner, and she is taking me out to eat at a Mexican food restuarant, yummmm. There is a heated pool, and we can scrapbook for as many hours as we want, during those three days, all night long if the mood strikes, lol. So was just wondering if any other scrapbookers had ever been to a weekend of scrappin? When all else fails.....add another embellishment!:)

Well I do alot of weekend scrapping with my sisters where we power scrap for two and a half days....we are however also looking into a retreat. It's in Wisconsin and calle Forgotten times. It's in an old barn and the place has been fixed up with wonderful looking bedrooms and a cool place to do your scrapping. It also has a store for emergency purchases! I hope you have a wonderful time! Let me know if you like it. We are thinking of doing it next winter when the weather isn't so nice...we can lock in and just scrap!

oh this sounds like a lovely idea! i've got a couple scrapbooks that i desperately want to finish, but i never seem to make the time for it while i'm home. this sort of thing would be the perfect way to relax for a weekend while also motivating me to get some much needed scrapbooking done! do they provide any supplies or do you have to bring your own with you?

They will have vendors there, but from the pictures I saw on the website, you take your supplies with you, including laptops, printers, the whole nine yards lol. They will also be giving door prizes and other prizes throughout the weekend. We'll also have time to relax, the hotel has an indoor pool, walks on the beach, yes, Charlotte I miss the beach lol. Since it's just me and my dog at home from December thru March (I'm off work those months) I have plenty of scrapbooking time, and a lot on days like today.....Snow Day!

Well I'm late to the discussion so I guess I'll ask - How was it???
I am moving back to FL as you know and once there I will have people to scrap with. My aunt has already sent me an invite to a scrapbook thing they do every month. They get together at a hall at a hotel hall and scrap for the evening. Its from 6pm to 12pm and best part is one of the girls sells creative memories and always brings her stock so if any one needs any thing its right there. I can't wait. They do a weekend retreat once a year too. I hope that I will be able to get the time off to go.

It was great, we had a wonderful time, met new people and learned some new things too. We had such a good time that we are already planning to go to another one at the end of October (there's still room!!) It will also be in Virginia beach. The room was great our work tables were next to the windows overlooking the beach. So it was really scrappin with a view. It's really reasonable too, $300 for the weekend, including hotel room, dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. It runs from 1pm Friday to 4pm Sunday. We even scrapped in our pajamas until 1 or 2 in the morning! It was so much fun. I know you'll have fun when you get to Fl having someone to scrap with.

Is the retreat in your city or do you have to travel to get there? Just wondering about your weather or the weather with Heather having to travel to get there also. I really hope your weather is settled down by then so you and her can have your mother/daughter time together, sounds like fun, at least the retreat part since I don't do scrapbooking. See if you had not moved away years ago we could be scrapping together. hahaha

It's done at Virginia Beach, the hotel is right on the beach. So I'll be driving down to Heather's around the 28th, or a day or two before depending on the weather. Of course if it turns out that I am snowed in or something, then we'll just have to postpone til another time. Hopefully weather will hold out, we haven't had too much snow this year, unlike last year at this time, was snowed in for 8 days! We are supposed to be having 3-6 inches by this evening and some ice on top of that! But supposed to be nice by Thursday, Dan will be staying at his mom's tonight, but home for Valentine's day this year!

I have never been able to go to a scrapbooking retreat. I have heard they are so nice! You will definitely enjoy yourselves! The most I've done is all day crops where the hostess will feed you. After your weekend you'll have to go on another retreat to scrapbook this one! lol Enjoy!

I know, I'll be taking a lot of pictures of the retreat and the beach and our room, the other scrappers, lol. However, we are taking our laptops and printers with us, so I might get started on pages from the scrap retreat itself lol. Thanks, I'm looking forward to going, and my daughter is excited too.

I love scrapbooking retreats. I actually am the co-owner of Crazy for Croppin and we hold scrapbooking retreats in New England. However, I find I don't get much of my own work done when I am the one hosting, so I go to others to work on my own scrapbooks. I live for my weekends with my girl friends. I have a loft set up at home to work on my books, but I find there is always something else that needs to be done... laundry, dishes etc etc...so I like the fact that I can get so much done in a weekend and it really is fun to just get away for a few days.
If your in the New England area and want to join us for a weekend vist our website at www.crazyforcroppin.com for our info. We actually have one coming up in a couple of weeks.

I did check out your website, that is fantastic. I might just have to book one, I've always wanted to go to MA. However, your first one coming up is the weekend I'll be joining my daughter. We are both excited about going to our first retreat, and so far, I'll be the one traveling the furtherest.

We will be free to come and go whenever we want to go out and take pictures, buy souvineers or whatever, we can go down and scrap in our pajamas if we want in the late evening. There will be an indoor pool and hottub, so we can scrapbook for a few hours and go do something else like sight seeing or whatever.

wow this sounds totally super. I would love love love to go on a scrapbooking retreat!
if only someone would treat me to this. i know my hubby won't do it cos he would be feeling so neglected and he would totally not enjoy such a girly event. perhaps in future when i have my own daughter! haha. that will be a long time more when she can bring me out on a retreat like you, lucky mom!
let us know how it went - can't wait to hear from you on your awesome weekend. the only thing that i can think of that is better than that is going on a spa retreat, all expenses paid of course... *dreams on*

we are both excited about going for the weekend, it's at the end of this month, and we are already excited about it, our men may send us away early if we get too wound up about it lol. We love scrapbooking together, I got started 3 years ago and I got her into it 2 years ago. She spent weeks at a time with us while her hubby was in Iraq, and we would spread out at my big dining room table and scrapbook on the weekends. Lucky for me I have a wonderful man that doesn't mind that kind of stuff hehehe

Though I have been collecting lots of info about scrapbooking didnot start into it as I have a small kid to attend to. Infact my daughter who is 6 is so crazy about scrapbooking and whereever we go she just asks for scrap book supplies. She have them ready and we are just waiting for a good time to start. Waiting for my younger one to grow up. So have to wait to do it for another year or so.
But this retreat thing sounds great. Do share with us how it all went.
