Oh Do I hear you on this Issue. Here is a few suggestions that I have been doing to stay on the banned wagon.
Have plenty of candies even gum to keep busy.
Chew on a straw or even hold it like a ciggerette (sometimes it's the lack of holding it that gets us more)
Clean EVERYTHING that"reminds" you of smoking, ash trays, car smells, even wash that coat you have been wearing.
I have even gotten to the point of when it gets real bad..I have my kids tackle me and we play..lol..Hey it works gets my mind off of the"wanting".
I wish you the best of luck on being smoke free and hope this helps a little.
Remember a positive attitude always is the best source of control.

Its good you have stopped for the past 24 hours but, even then, it will provoke you at various situations which you undergo. I think by this time your entire body system is adjusted to smoke, if you leave just like that there are chances getting some abnormal situations for body like shivering, legs shaking, frustration, etc etc.,
I am forcing you, can try this.
Smoke 1 cig now,
Smoke 1 cig after two days from the day you last smoked
Smoke 1 cig after three days from the day you last smoked
smoke 1 cig after four days from the day you last smoked
Smoke 1 cig after five days from the day you last smoked
smoke 1 cig after six days from the day you last smoked
Like wise, i reduced my smoking habit completely, right now i am in a stage wherein i smoking one cig once in six months. I am pretty confident i can take it further also. All the best

One think is essential require for quiting, that is strong determination. If you have strong will power to quit, you can quit. Some other things you can do are keeping busy, avoiding friends and society who smoke or encouage smoking, chew candy or gum. But if you have any withdrawal symptom, consult your physician.

I've not had a smoke all day - and I considered quitting myself, but I find myself sitting here wanting to go get some smokes at the store...
Sleeping helps - the more you sleep the less you think about wanting to smoke, but you can't sleep all the time.
For me, spicy foods helps - really spicy. It's like I don't want to smoke when I'm eating spicy foods. Good luck to you! You've made a good and healthy choice for yourself and I hope that even if you can't quit, you'll be concious of your smoking and cut back on it.

Willpower is about the only help you've got. I quit last year and I still want one every now and again (mainly in stressful times). You just keep reminding yourself of why you are quitting and take it second by second and minute by minute. You can do it!
