I have allergies with some shellfish and seafoods. I developed allergy with chicken just recently but my grandmom said maybe the chicken I consumed was frozen and stocked for a period of time. It is really disturbing and I cannot stand the itch. I take benadryl sometimes, I even had a few shots of diphenhydramine. The vaccine works and now I was advised to take Iteraz instead of benadryl.

Zyrtec and Virlix have steroids that are not good for the liver (if my memory serves me right) . It also cause bone density loss that's why some who take it experience lower back pain and leg cramps so my doctor advised me to take calcium supplement while taking virlix. I take iterax now because they say it is more effective than zyrtec. Ask your physician before taking it.

TQ for reply. I'm sorry to hear yor promlem. So how much the cost for you to buy the vaccine and medicice to eliminate the allergy? I heard that if we take a vaccine or antibody for a long period of time, then the allergy may become immune to the vaccine/antibody one day in the future. Then the medicine we obviously take to treat that allergy will not effective anymore. Is it true?

I wonder if we hafta take the medicine until the end of our life. BTw, I be used to take zyrtec tablets, when I'm 17s, a tablet of zyrtec is enough to relief my allergy for a week, but mow when I'm 23, that same pill just effective less then 24 hr. I was quit the regiment since it's not really effective anymore plus it's seem to have known side effect which is not good for the liver.

i have a shellfish allergy but i'm lucky because it doesn't affect my life anymore. i don't even eat meat or fish anymore so it's pretty easy for me to avoid. the only thing i have to be careful with is that apparently it's used in certain medication and vitamins, so i always have to read labels.

i'm sorry, i guess i should clarify. when i first developed the allergy, yes i had to purposely avoid shellfish so that was a noticeable effect on my life. however, for completely unrelated reasons i went vegetarian (including fish) a few years later. once that happened it became a moot point about avoiding shellfish since i wasn't eating any fish anymore. therefore it seemed like much less of an effect or inconvenience on my life.
