wait till u have the money to buy whatever u want to buy. living above your means can get u in bad trouble. credit cards are really good for that. learn to do w/out things u don't really have to have. just because u want something doesn't mean u shouldget it if u can't afford it.

I am currently in debt but it is gradually going down! The only way to become debt free is to first of all stop getting more credit - this may seem really difficult as if you are struggling to pay bills the easy route is to borrow more to pay one or the other but, in the long run this isn't the way. I learnt by ringing each of my creditors one by one and offering them a payment each month that was realistic. Some of them wouldn't accept as low as I wanted but I agreed to do a little higher - a sneaky way here was to actually offer a little bit lower than I could afford so when they then said they wanted more I could still afford that - keeps them happy but also still within your budget! Also don't expect major results overnight as this isn't realistic and you will become dis heartened if this is what you were hoping! Stick to the plan of how much you are paying each creditor and eventually you will start to see them debts fall. If you have a good month where you might have a bit extra use it off one of the creditors as this will help to bring them down faster and also on the other hand and if you have a bad month where money is really tight then don't just ignore it but ring your creditor and ask them to allow a reduced payment or double the next month. I find it helps to keep a log book - especially if you have a multitude of creditors as then you can keep track of who has been paid and who needs paying. Another thing to remember is some creditors will accept a settlement figure which is normally a lot lower than the full balance if paid in one lump sum - now obviously most of us cannot do that otherwise we wouldn't be in debt in the firt place would we? But, you may find if you get your balance low enough you could do it then and that would clear one of your debts so this is worth remembering to ask about once your outstanding balances gets low enough. Overall do not panic and if you really cannot afford to pay anything at all then seek professional help and they can advise the best route for your personal circumstances. Good luck!
