What are more and more teens abusing pain killers?

It's like the new cancer of drugs nowadays.
I've heard that Reports show that more and more teens pop the pill more often when they should, even when they don't have any real physical pain.
In my opinion, some of these teens may have depression, or some other condition that might cause this behavior.
What's your veiw on this?

I don't understand why they are abusing over-the-counter pain-killers, as I wouldn't think they have any "stoned" value, e.g. mind-altering. Maybe they just think it's "cool" to take pills, whatever those pills are? If that's so, it's sad that young people are unable to operate and think for themselves outside of a hero-worship and group philosophy.
