I keep too many notepads in front of me on my desk. I get so many free ones plus I have a couple that were my Moms that I should really put away but I just like to look at them while I'm sitting here. I write a lot of things down while I'm online like new web sites to check out and when a sale from ebay pops up and I need the name and address for a new magazine subscription. Since my phone is right here too it comes in handy for writing down phone numbers I don't have or appointments that I make.
Do you keep notepads in front of you while on the pc? What types of things do you write down?

No tangible notepads, no. I keep everything I want to save to wordpad or notepad documents and throw them in a folder on my desktop. I'm likely to lose slips of paper, not to mention not having the time or patience to scrounge for the right one when I'd need it. It's much easier to just copy what I need over to wordpad and save the file.
As for things I save, script codes, article snips that I think are interesting or might want to use for reference later on, email addresses I need to remember ... stuff like that. Websites, no ... those I bookmark. I have likely hundreds of bookmarks, but I keep them organized in their own category folders, too ... so it makes finding them a little easier.

I've never figured out how to use my wordpad or notepad. I do keep things in my yahoo notepad but usually things like poems and receipts from my online purchses...things I hardly look at.

I havea little notebook, a date calendar and a unicorn paper holder that holds pieces of paper in it on my computer desk. The little notebook has all my passwords in it, I use the datebook to write things down I need to remember and the unicorn paper holder I use when I want to write something down to remember.

I have those free note pads I get in the mail, along with purchased lined notepads and spiral bound notebooks. Then there is all that scrap paper I refuse to throw away until both sides of the sheets are used. I have paper everywhere. I have a box of paper under my desk that has been printed on one side. I will print unimportant stuff on the backs of them.
I am surrounded by books and paper as I am always doing several things at once.

Too Many Notebooks? What's that? Seriously, I keep notepads where ever I am, and usually more than one: I have a thought-book - for just random thoughts, I have a writing-book - for story ideas and thoughts, I have a notes-book - for things I need to remember, and then I have other numerous books, my journal, a pad of letters I will never give to the people they are to, and then random websites, and one for just whatever. I have notebooks in every room of my house, one in my purse, one in my car, one in my desk drawer at work, and so on. And if I happen to get caught without a pad, well, let's just say I am not afraid to use whatever else I can find: my own skin, napkins, receipts, you name it, I have probably written on it. So to answer your question - of course!

Since you're a writer I can understand why you would keep so many around. I'm sure you need them to write down thoughts that come to you.

Sometimes when I hear something on tv that I think will make a good idea for a discussion I'll jot it down so I won't forget.

I use Notezilla which is a wonderful digital sticky notes program like Post-It notes only from a different company. In addition to that however I do keep a pad of regular sticky notes in a cute little holder that lights up when the pen lifts out. Very handy since the area around my keyboard is not well lit. Under my computer is a tray with various logbooks relating to different online activies, too. If I need more "scratch paper" I just steal a sheet from the printer tray which is within reach.

Yes i do have a notebook that is sitting on my desk near my desk top..Now that i am using my laptop a lot lately i find that i also have a notebook near by without even thinking about it..I also jot things down as i search the web or read e-mails,if i do not jot it down i will forget..I do not hold information in my head like a lot of people do...I can see something and say i have to remember that so i repeat it to myself a few times trying to be able to remember, then like a light bulb turns off, that thing i wanted to remember is gone like a light switch turned off..Lol

I do have notepads at my desk but since I got a laptop I don't use the desktop or desk as much. I need to get me one of some for when I am using the laptop. I use them for just about anything, from notes to just doodling. (?is that how you spell doodling?) hahaha

It seems that people with desktops don't keep or need notepads. I guess that's since most don't use a desk.

Yes. well sortof. I have at least 5 within easy reach (they're not actually on the desk, there dotted around) and another 10 or so "spare" ones in a box under my bed. Most of them were gifts, though I keep buy notepads cause I loose them then find them again.

Did you ever why we need so many things to write on? I remember a time when one was enough. Now that I don't remember anything I need a lot of them too.

not all the time but i do have notebooks right beside my computer so they're just one reach away. i also have post-its here, sometimes i use them and stick them on my monitor so i would not forget because i only write something on paper if it is a schedule or something really important.

We have one notepad for codes to get in and out of things and for addresses to find what we want again in the event that we have to shut down.
I have a piece of paper for referals for job sites to check out that a friend sent to me.
I used ot have sticky notes for things that I needed to do, too. But I've used it all up.

I have notepads next to me almost always. If not, then right away I'm looking for one. I'm writing down names, addresses, passwords all kinds of things. I'm horrible with needing notepads, but they're good to have around, if you're forgetful. :)

I keep my calendar, notepads, and post-it around me with my laptop. I usually write down things like URLs of useful websites (bookmarking sometimes create clutter); ideas or keywords I want to research more on, or promo codes to get discounts. Or just something to remind myself of.
