I wasn't sure what to expect when I put this film on. It was Sunday and I was bored, I thought I would watch one of my dad's DVD's. so I ended up picking up Black Book. Rachel Rosenthal is a a Dutch jew is in hiding in the Netherlands during 1945 & she loses her safe house when it's hit by a German bomber unloading bombs to get a higher altitude. She meets a sailor, who offers her a place to hide @ his parents house. They are told by reistance fighter Van Gein their hiding place is not safe anymore, & he offers to get her into allied territory by hiding her on a boat with a group of rich jews. Having no choice she gathers all her valuables 7 prepares to go. Just as the boat is leaving she finds out her family are also on the boat. But things go wrong when a German patrol boat intercepts them murdering everyone on board. Rachel manages to escape during the massacre by jumping into the water, but she has to watch dead members of her family being looted. With the help of a few trusted Dutchmen she joins the resistance where she is given a new identity. This is a film well worth watching.
