I live in the UK and I think it has a very high population. It is about 58 million. So much extra building is happening. I don't think there is a shortage of houses just that they are too expensive. We have cities, towns, villages, green fields and coastline.
Is your country crowded?
What is the population of it roughly?
What is the landscape like?
Thanks.

Australia, overall, is very sparsely populated. WE have the largest ratio of area per person in the world, although I can't quote offhand what that is.
But do you know what is odd about it? 90% of our population live in cities on the coast.

We not only get bushfires in the outback. Many of the very worst bushfires are in outer suburban areas. As all Aussie cities have extensive bushland where homes are, my suburb included.
My house is in the danger zone for embers from bushfires.

I think Australia's population must be about 18 million so that not many people considering the size of your country. Yes, I would say most of the population live in cities like Sydney and Melbourne and along the coast up into Queensland. I am surprised lovely Adelaide and Perth have fewer inhabitants. Western Australia is isolated from the rest of Australia. My cousin lived in Esperance and she went shopping in Perth every year! She was five hours from one other place and four hours from the train station at another place. Darwin has heat and humidity that doesn't appeal to some Australians and in the outback bush fires can be a worry.

Yes, India has a huge population and it is becoming a more wealthy country these days. It has these things in common with China. More and more houses are being built and so prices are going up. I would love to go to India one day. I would start my seeing the wonderful sights of the Golden Triangle then go to palm fringed beaches on the Indian Ocean. I would like to go to a rural area to see a wild tiger.

I live in the Uk too and I do think we are overcrowded. There is hardly any countryside left in our town because there a so many houses being built, houses which few people can afford.

I live on the edge of a coastal town and I have a view of fields. I spoke to a lady that has a friend that has lived in my area before my road was built. Buildings can't spread out anymore because there is a river, fields and then a motorway. Property is just too expensive. The smallest house is about seven times the average salary in my area. On a tiny bit on land they built 12 flats, each costing £140 000.

I live in Canada and the population is about 35 Million. The country is very large about 3500km from coast to coast across and many thousand km to the Arctic ocean, that is why we say in one of our songs from sea to sea to shining sea. We have very large and dense populations in major cities such as Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver.
We have many landscapes and climates. The East Coast and Newfoundland has a maritime climate and lots of fishing villages. Quebec has charming villages, green fields and pastures in places, other places are forested. Ontario in the populated areas has villages, farms and cities of various densities. Manitoba, Saskatchewan have the prairies and the big skies. Alberta has the prairies and the magnificent Rocky Mountains. BC is a dreamland of ocean fjords, mountains cities and villages. It has a wonderful climate, very mild and it hardly ever snows in the winter but it rains a lot. If you go further north on the coast you will find the Northern rain forests. Nunavut and the Northwest territories are in the Arctic, maybe 3 months of summer, they are the land of the midnight sun, 22 to 23 hours of daylight, but long and bitter cold winters with dark dark days and typical tundra vegetation. The Yukon I have not seen personally but from what I know it is sparsely populated but has more vegetation in places than the other Arctic territories. So to answer your last question is it crowded? yes in places no in very large expanses. I went from Sept Isles in Quebec to Labrador City by train. The trip took from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon and there was one inhabited place along the route, the rest just forestland and grassy stretches, maybe a fly-in camp once in a while or a tent in the wilderness.

I agree that it is wonderful to find out more about Canada. My brother in law comes from Vancouver. I like the sound of your trip from the Sept Islands to Labrador City by train. I dream about taking the train from Vancouver to Halifax stopping off at places on the way. The Anne of Green Gables books that I read when I was a child got me interested in Prince Edward Island. I would really like to go there. The north of Canada sounds cold and so that may be why it is so sparsely populated. Thanks for your excellent reply to my discussion.

I live in the desert (though they're calling it a Valley) of Southern California. The numbers are still a mystery to me but I believe we now have around 35,000 people living here. But I can't see them. LOL. It's not crowded at all. There's stretches of empty land on either side of our home and our "valley" is dotted with ranches, farms and a miles and miles of natural forests. So the landscape is both brown rocky/stony mountains, dry flat desert land to the left and green lush forests to the right. We have three lakes to cool off in Summer. That's it in a nutshell.
I would love to visit your English country side with the little villages and castles. Tell us about The Borders. Gtargirl needs to know. :)

Mmmm, Greenwhich Village. I've heard of that place. But does it have quaint little thatched-roofed cottages lined with white picket fences or stone walls covered with moss? Know what I mean?

I have been to California three times but I stayed on or near to the coastline. Living in the desert must be interesting. I imagine it is hot and dry there. Your valley sounds attractive as it has much forest and ranches dotted around. In my country we have beautiful countryside with green field, old cottages, quaint churches and many ancient castles. You would like Northumberland and the interesting Hadrian's Wall. I liked seeing birds on the Farne Islands and seeing a castle by a beautiful beach. I hope that you will go to the UK and hop between England and Scotland.

Well, my country as they say is populated... with almost 100 million people... but i say the areas that bear most of this population are the cities... they become very crowded and houses, apartments, and condominiums become very expensive... but if you go to the provinces... you will not experience and crowd...
Well people go live in the cities because that is where they can find work... but i heard the government is doing something to fix this... since establishing factories are now encouraged in provinces...

Yes, it is a common problem in the world that most work is in the cities. I am glad to hear that the government of your country are trying to fix this. It is nice when factories don't spoil the environment. I think a home in one of your countries many islands would be perfect with the palm fringed beaches and blue ocean to enjoy. 100 million sounds like a large population.

We just crossed this figure. 1000000000. We are second largest in the world. You see heads and no tails all over the cities and all over the villages. Less and less forests and more and more humans. So much forests are destroyed for habitation, elephants come and crush humans in villages.
Though government is trying to control the population, the number keep welling. So also that of our neighbour China I suppose. People, People and People everywhere.

Yes, your country sounds very crowded. I read that more boys than girls are being born in India at the moment. It is such a shame that forests are being destroyed for habitation. I am not surprised that elephants get angry about this. What does the Indian government do to try to control the population? China has the world's largest population and they have the one child policy.

I am Indian so I believe no need to say that it is the world’s second most populated nation, after China. The population mark crossed 1 billion some years back so what more can I say on this. The landscape…well India has been called the epitome of the world in the sense that whatever flora, fauna, landscape type, climate etc you will find anywhere in the world, you will find some representation of it in India. It is the only country which has both the lion and the tiger as native animals, it has both deserts and plains, mountains and sea coast, fertile plains to rugged valleys. Regarding climate…while one part of the country enjoys extreme snowfall, another part has mild summer. It is both above the tropic of cancer and within the topics. I think God was not exactly concentrating when he created India. A mad country inhabited by mad people lol!

Yes, the population of India is huge. It is a large country but cities are so full of people. I think couples tend to have more than one or two children and so the population is not going to get any less. It is lovely that your country has so many different types of landscape. I would love to see a wild tiger.

Hi, I also live in the UK so maybe I should answer that question on behalf of Slovenia where I have a holiday home.
Slovenia has a population of less than 3 million. Over then per cent live in the capital Ljubljana.
Our flat is in Maribor, the second city which has a population of about 80,000. In the centre and the subrubs most people live in blocks of flats so it seems crowded but there are lots of parks and squares. Also, with it being a small city you can get quickly to the countryside - the mountains are great!

Slovenia is a small but beautiful city. Thanks for telling us about your holiday home there. I love watching the program called A place in the Sun and one day I dream about having a holiday home one day. The trouble is I have the travel bug and that means going to many different places. Three million is not very many but the country is not so big. I think it is great that there are lots of parks and gardens in Maribor and the mountains are not far off. In a way it is good there are flats to kep all that gorgeous countryside unspoilt.

I live in Pakistan. The population of Pakistan is increasing very rapidly. The area of Pakistan is 796096 square kilometres and The current population of Pakistan is 157935100 and density of population is 198 per square kilometre. It is the complete population of Pakistan but it is different if we consider area wise, like the city in which I live, karachi, it's area is 3530 square kilometres, the population is 11608000 and the density of population is 3957 per square kilometre so it's a very populated city.

Thanks for your excellent response to my discussion. Pakistan sounds very populated and the density of 198 per square kilometer is amazing. However in Karachi the density is considerable. It is interesting that the population is rising rapidly. I think Asia has some countries with high population making making it home to many people of the world.

Hi,maximax8.My country China has the largest population in the world.^_^I live in Beijing and there are so many people crowd in the city.Public transportation system is a risk for every one.Though the recent situation is much better than before,I don't like to go out at rush hours.
But actually,in China, especially in rural areas and remote areas, just minority people live in there. For people living in big cities, these unexploited areas are mysterious and fresh.

Yes, China has the largest population in the world. Do you think the one child policy is working? Beijing sounds very crowded and the public transport at rush hour must be jam packed. I saw a program about them preparing for the Olympics and it was sad that some people's homes were destroyed to new roads could be made. Yes, it must be refreshing for you to see rural areas and remote regions. Your country is huge and there is much beauty to see. I would love to go there and so far I have been to Hong Kong.

I think you have about 18 million in your country and Australia is huge. The population is mainly in the cities. I went to Perth and really liked it. I traveled around Western Australia and found lots of open space. The government do much to keep out illegal immigrants but accepts highly skilled migrants if they pass the points test.

You will never imagine how terrible and terrific traffic jam.People's living quality becomes worse, for example, now the mid-class citizen can't endure the high price of the flat.

Yes, property prices are going up. China has a huge population and 20 million in Shanghai is more than the entire population of Australia. I am sure the traffic jams must be awful. Maybe with the one child policy the population will go down. Thanks for your superb response to my discussion. I hope that you are enjoying My Lot.

Well iam from india and its is highly populated. Bombay is where iam living and it is a very crowded place. Its busy almost 24 hours a day and people call it a city which never sleeps.

Yes, India has a large population. I think Bombay must be a lovely place to live but not as relaxing as a rural place like Kerela. Yes, the UK has many migrants and many Indian people do a great job in our health service. I would love to go to India one day and travel by train to all the places I want to see. Preserving buildings is important but I realize this is not always an easy thing to do with many people and much pollution.

I reckon it depends on the region or state that one resides in this country, as to whether it is densely populated or not.
the state I am currently in is rather sparsely populated - unless you want to tabulate the number of livestock occupying the acres :)
I live in a rather hilly area geographically - and love it - hill billies make the nicest down home folk.

my country is way way way more crowded than any other country in the world I would say. We are about 640 square km and there are 4.5 million residents here.
There are still some jungle areas and some forested rainforest nature reserves and we have one of the most beautiful open zoo concepts in the world where the animals are hedged in naturally through moats instead of ugly fences. But in the city and in the suburban living areas, it is so crowded! just thinking of going on the train later makes me feel claustrophobic.
my country is basically a metropolitan city and not much else.

I live in Canada but I don't know what the total population is here. Our country deffinetly isn't crowded though. We have a lot of country side and a lot of towns and cities, but it is not crowded. Housing in our country is also very expensive and so is the cost of living very high. We have the poor and the middle class and the rich. We, my hubby and I, are inbetween the poor and the middle class so we can't afford to buy a house.

It is a very vast island Continent.
It has every imaginable aspect of a beautiful landscape.
Mountains, rivers, deserts, lakes you name it
we have got it.
