Assuming life has value, does it decrease with birth and increase by death?

In my opinion, I would say it decreases with birth because babies are looked upon as precious, cute and adorable while as one becomes elderly, they are looked upon more as a burden and bane than precious because they are more difficult to look after. But I believe God sees everyone equal and all of us, young or old, are equal in value. =)
