Is it 56k Modem, ISDN, Broadband, satellite, GPRS, EDGE, 3G? AND how much you pay for the service? How fast your download/upload? Like mine, 384kbps broadband package, around 7 USD per month (for 10 hour usage) and + 0.05 per minute for additional usage. But it's like a lie because I never get more than 120kpbs download. May be I should go for 1mbps package or 3G. But it's so expensive!

A year ago I had a broadband connection by the government telephone department but i found they were a sort of cheaters. They gave me a hefty bill saying that I have downloaded beyond the allotted stipulated MBs.
I changed it from this government department and have the connection from Air Tel another service provider and for the past one year it is working well.
It is 256 kbps, unlimited time and unlimited downloads, costing Rs.$30 per month. Along with this I get a telephone where incoming is free.

Yeah you are right, most of government related company play cheats to customer. Mine, (not sure like your's before) not from gov dep, but gov-related-com, and many users complain that company is cheating users. There's option for fully private ISP, but it's service just limited to special area since that gov-related-com-ISP became a monopoly company of the ISP in my country.
But can you convert that Rs.$30 in USD? I need to make a compare. Thanks!

Well friends, every where there are different different methods of using the internet connection it depends on the ISP(internet service provider). As Im using the broadband connection which I have subscribe a connection it is the 128 Kbps @ Rs. 799 + Service Tax (12 %)per month. Which is Unlimited plan. There is no limitation of use as much as I can use & download it works 24 hours. Im very very satisfied with this subscription.........

why there must be service tax? unlimited plan means u gotta pay each month although u not use the service right...

I use a 4Mb connection with no download limits. I see it a ripoff to have a download limit and it's purely stupid - why change to broadband and be 'always connected' when you still have limitations?
I know it's all marketing bs and a way to scrape every single cent from our lives! :(
For this connection I pay around $60/month which is quite a rent. was thinking of choosing the other package 2Mb, unlimited download for around $25/month, but not sure about performance.
With my current connection, average dl speed is around 2.5Mb all the time. haven't tested the other connection's average speed though... and am not going to ask my ISP as they would obviously say 2Mb lol!

Yeah it's awesome when you can stream in WMP a music video at full screen and CD quality sound without any jittering or stops to buffer...
... but again I see it a bit expensive :) but still happy with it for now lol!
It's very difficult to downgrade when you tasted something really wicked!

I'm not really sure what company my internet provider is but I use a wireless broadband connection. I share it with the school I live at so internet expenses are apart of my rent.

Cable here and I use mozzila browser I'm not sure what the speed is for uploads or downloads but I do know the speed at which I'm connected which is 100.0 MBPS. I have absolutely no lag and my internet provider is Time Warner Cable I have roadrunner. I love cable more than dsl when I had dsl I have alot of lag but on cable I have none. Its awesome.

No when I connect to the internet I don't have to include my login or id number I'm connected through an ether net cord from my computer right to my cable internet box. Yes, I believe it has to do with some kind of networking card that you have in the computer. But I believe it has something to do with the fact that I'm close to a hub and that's what makes my cable internet speed faster than others.

so do u have to include login id / password to connect to the internet? the 100mbps was the connection speed of ur network card, if u use 10mbps network card, then it will be 10mbps or 10/100mbps.... if I'm not mistaken...

I used a wireless broadband service, from a cellular site.
it is a high speed intenet connection that uses the nationwide cellular network.
it is a one package deal which is P999/month, with speed 7x faster than dial up, or 384kbps
and my download speep is around 45 - 50 kbps.
The good thing about this package, is that you get UNLIMITED internet service for the whole month,
for only Php 999.00 or around $20...
its kinda big than $7/month, but the good thing is that it is unlimited. And you dont have to pay extra +0.05/min when you exceed 10 hours.

Streamyx (broadband) paid by Maybank2U (Online Banking) Downstream 1024 kbps Upstream 384 kbps. Are you using the RM20 per month for 10 hours RM0.05 every additional usage? The cheapest 1.0 mbps is RM88 without modem or RM99 with modem. Is not that expensive.

yup. It's RM25 actually + modem. Actually I subscribed for RM20 package without modem since I already own a modem. But suddenly it happen to be the RM25/month with modem, what a waste. You know now for RM110, we'll can get the Celcom Broadband + Streamyx unlimited usage!
lol RM88 without modem is expensive! Jaring offers RM77 with modem instead. But you know, the power of monopolist and GLC... Everything In Their Hands! "Not like celcom's motto claims..."
