Did Roger Clemens use Steroids?

Baseball's legendary pitcher Roger Clemens was recently called into Congress to testify whether he took steroids or HGH.
Testimonies from his former trainer McNamee and former teammate Andy Pettitte seem to point towards possible use of illegal substances by the Cy Young award-winning pitcher.
I'd like to believe that Clemens is innocent of these allegations. But McNamee says he has physical evidence and Pettitte, known for his honesty and closeness to Clemens, says otherwise.
Who do you believe? Did Clemens use HGH? If he lied, will he be indicted for perjury?

i think i'm inclined to believe Roger Clemens when he says he DIDN'T use hgh, now as to any other substances...that i don't know
it's sad though, regardless...there is such a media circus around this issue....its really hurt the fans, the young kids who look upto the players...and the image of baseball altogether, yet the sport has survived worse blows before...
as to the indictment if he DID lie...i doubt it, i mean....Bond's was used as an example, yet....well u know the rest there
and on another note....i doubt that he would get even an * in the record books....we basicly know Bonds was jucing, yet they gave him his record....so even if clemens lied i think he cy youngs will stand as they are.

Is it official, I'm talking about Bonds? He's getting his record posted in the MLB history books and is eligible for the Hall? I didn't hear anything official. Please let me know more about it.
Af for Clemens, if they find evidence and conclude his guilt, I agree with taking some of his records off the books, but he should still be eligible for the Hall, don't you think?

I'm glad you love talking about sports. Ditto! So we agree that, despite their possible use of banned substances, they should be considered for the Hall.
Now, let me throw you a curve ball. What's your opinion of Pete Rose banished for life from the Hall because of gambling?
My friend and I have a long-standing debate about this subject matter. I'd like you to jump in with your opinion.

yes we do agree....and i had a feeling pete rose was going to come up in this thread :P
i know that rose was a good enough player to be on the ballots, i also know what he did was not too kewl of a thing to do on so many levels. but I'm inclined to believe his apology, I'm inclined to believe that he HAS changed, and i also believe that it should be up to the fans and not the big wig power players in the front offices to decide whether or not he deserves to be on the ballot. I think, considering that I know, er have read in the past,t hat many people declare him as a so called 'write in' during balloting, that he should be allowed a run at it, at least once....if i understand correctly a player can run no more then 3 times....so maybe offer a compromise, allow him 1 and only 1 run at the hall....
whats your take?

Of course he used. I think Roger even admitted that McNamee shot his wife up with HGH so ask yourself this. How did his wife know that McNamee had HGH? Do you think she went straight to McNamee and just kept that information from Roger? I think Roger told her about the HGH and that's how she found out.
Pettitte's testimony is the clincher. Pettitte doesn't seem to me like someone who would lie. He seems like a very honest and a very humble person so if he says that he had a conversation with Roger about Roger's HGH use the I believe him.

What I don't understand is why Clemens is being so public in his claim that he didn't do it. If he did do it, I would think he would pull a McGwire. McNamee seem to have lots to gain by continuing his claims. I don't understand Pettitte either. I haven't actually seen the text of his testimony so I'm a little skeptical of the press reports on it. And then there were the members of congress! YUK. It is all so disguisting, no matter who is telling the truth or who is not.

I don't even know why Congress got involved with all this. Isn't this an internal matter for the players' respective teams or Major League Baseball? Doesn't Congress have more important things to attend to like the war, our budget deficit, recession, victims of Katrina or victims of the tornadoes?
I hate to be one of those homeless people waiting for federal funds while our congressmen are probing Roger Clemens' arms for needle marks!
