I am thinking of buying a small yorkshire terrier pup can you help

Hi do you know if Yorkshire Terriers are yappy or are they nasty. They are so cute, but will have to have more information before I buy one. What is best a boy or girl?? Do they get on with other dogs, I have a 10 year old collie female great temperament. Hope someone can help me out there pleeeese
