This is from an email and thought it was fun to read. This is funny... I can't hardly imagine how this will read in another 20 years... THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!! If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what, with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda! And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in h3ll I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that.. I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, or 60 I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a d**n Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the d**n library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter...with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the d**n record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids' and the graphics sucked! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just messed up was lucky when we did get tv in late 50s then we had 3 channels before this we listen to the radio for Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger, Only the Shadow knows. Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no onscreen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your backside and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little brats! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire ... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.Had to use the stove and a skillet with a lid! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled!!!!!!!!! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!or 50s Oh yea, and a seatbelt was Mom throwing her arm across your chest every time she hit the brakes. Regards, The over 30 Crowd or 60

lol...I'm in the over 30 crowd. But I wouldn't call these kids spoilt. They take everything they got for granted...just as we did when we were kids. These kids if they were born earlier would have lasted...just as we did...they wouldn't know any other way, would they. But if they are born today and lived a couple of years here and then transported back to the 80's, I doubt if they would have lasted a minute! And personally for me, I feel I've had it better than my son. The fact that I grew up in a rich country and had all the luxuries (at that point of time) and my son now lives in India...which is similar to how things were when I was growing up....makes all the difference here. And our son doesn't even get everything that I got as a child (even when it is available). We just don't think that it's right. Like you said in your post...in 20 years it would be read differently and the set of youngsters now will be cribbing about the generation to come. I liked the post and it was a good read:)

When I was younger, we had air conditioners and heaters to heat up our home and then we lived at a place which had central air conditioning. But my kids have neither of these now. It's the same in India...kids have it better than the parents. But I grew up in a different country and naturally had the luxuries which my sons are not accustomed to.

lakota, that is to funny. I can relate to the entire thing. I use to say that myself that I would never say those kind of things to my kids, but you know what? you just can't help it. Each generation there is a whole different set of rules. I can not imagine what it will be like for my Grand daughters generation. Its amazing :)) thanks for the laugh this morning hon. Hope you are feeling very well today.

Oh this is TOO GOOD! Our elders used to tell us about how hard they had it...and OMG we are turning into them. Everything that is listed here is something many of us can nod our heads to in total agreement..and it is hilarious because of how true it actually is! I loved this and will pass it on. You find great things and I appreciate the way you share them with the rest of us. Keep up the great posts...it is fun to drop by and see what you've come up with next! Raia

thanks I just couldnt help bubt to pass this on as it is true and I wonder how many younguns on here really know how good they have it. I feel for the countries that done have all that we have in our countries. When we stayed with Father in law. almost every winter when hubby couldnt work the only heat we had was from a fireplace or a wood heater. it the summer we melted kept a cool wash cloth with me all the time to try to keep cool even at night. and we cooked on a wood stove too they were the best meals tasted so good and this was backin 80s.
