Warning against Grouply

I received the following message from another group I'm in (on Yahoo, obviously). I haven't received anything directly from Grouply, but thought I would pass this on: There is a message going out to different Yahoo Groups advertising and suggesting that you join a new group called GROUPLY. This group claims to help manage all your Yahoo groups and you will get a summary, at the end of the day, telling you what is going on in all your groups. IF YOU JOIN THIS GROUP they use your Yahoo ID and password to post "mass mailings" and send them to anyone, and since it's YOUR ID they are using, others will think it is coming from you. Again, IF YOU HAVE JOINED THIS GROUP called "GROUPLY" IMMEDIATELY leave Grouply then go into your http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups and change your password. Unsubbing from that group won't make a difference, they already have what they want so change your Yahoo Password. By joining this group you have also exposed all of your groups, group members and group leaders to hacking of their emails, and group information. Please pass this on to other Yahoo groups you may be a member of!

the site is great and you are SO WRONG FOR POSTING THIS!! -- it is only your opinion and NOT FACT! check the facts before you post this crap! you didn't even join for yourself to see what it was about THEY DO NOT SPAM OTHER GROUPS! GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT! How come if this is supposed to be "SO TRUE" - I am a member of 0ver 70 groups and NEVER heard of such activity until this stupid post! If you don't want to be a member of Yahoo Groups- FINE, but dont spread SPAM! This POST IS NOT FAIR TO THE SITE OWNER - WHY NOT GO AND READ THE INFORMATION FIRST! i FOUND THEM in Mashable and that is a wonderful site promoting great websites!

Oh, stop getting your girdle in a knot. I posted that 9 months ago. There is no way I can remove the discussion. And, I am not the one spreading spam. Not a day goes by that I don't get at least one "invitation" from someone I've never heard of to join their Yahoo "group". Discussion closed.

Thanks for the useful advice. Although I don't partcipate in any yahoo groups, this advice could apply to any groups, not just Yahoo.

You're welcome, and thanks for being the first to respond. As I said, I haven't received this message directly, even though I am a member of several Yahoo groups. I did a quick search on Snopes and all it turned up was stories concerning carpools... go figure!
