Does anybody else think that Valentine's Day is overrated?

Don't get me wrong, people, I like gifts and TLC, but if you have somebody special in your life, don't you just want to declare your love to them all days of the year? What is the meaning having a day of special treatment? Being in love is something special which should be celebrated each and every day! Not to mention that some people find this day as redemption for their bad behaviour to their loved ones all the other days of the year.
Well, I love my fiance, I have done so since the day we got together and I want to go out and shout it on the rooftops and thank my lucky stars I met him - not just today, but every single day!

I agree if anything Valentines day makes things worse for people who haven't got a partner, and causes stress to couples because of the pressure of having to buy gifts. This year neither me or my boyfriend could afford to buy anything for each other. I don't know about him but it made me feel low, exactly the opposite of what the day is supposed to do.

Many thanks to everybody for your comments. I totally agree with you people - there's always another day to celebrate the fact that you're in love and happy in your relationships!
Oh, and Scoop - make sure you don't forget your anniversary! :p

If you tell me when it is... seems though that I'll have to ask your other half for the correct date, and that'll spoil the surprise somehow :)

It just feels like we're being emotionally blackmailed into making a fuss on Valentine's day and also it means much much more, if you are made to feel special on other days. We often buy things or do something special on other days because we want to show each other, how much we care.

We don't celebrate Valentines day anymore. There's really no point.

couldn’t agree more with you on this! Plus everything's just so expensive on v-day and there's so many people flocking the restaurants and such. Why would you want to waste your money on such a thing when there are plenty of other sweet things you could do together haha.
