Should the NAACP change its name?

This is a really dumb question, but I participate on Helium and it is one of the political debate questions going on right now. I figured it would at least start some interesting discussion. Please keep it respectful. (No, I have no idea what Helium meant by why the NAACP should change its name. So this conversation could pretty much go anywhere.)

I suppose the reason Helium is asking if they should change the name is because it stands for "Colored People" and that phrase isn't used much, if at all, anymore. I'm not sure if I'm for or against changing the name, however; it's so well-known as the NAACP that if it were to suddenly change, people wouldn't even know what it was with a new name. People become so accustomed to acronyms they forget what the letters actually stand for so I guess it might just as well stay as it is.
