To commemorate the first Valentine's Day that I have been a member here, I have hand-drawn a Valentine's Day card to all of the lovely people here, both those who are on my "buddy list" and those who aren't. I had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Did you? What was the nicest thing that happened to you today? Because of the different time zones, although it is still Valentine's Day here, that might not be the case you, so yesterday counts, too:-) I hope you enjoy my cartoon!

I had a wonderful Valentine's Day.It all started when I woke up this morning. You see,my husband works first shift and I am a stay at home mom. After I got up this morning I came to the computer and my husband had fixed the screen saver to say Happy Valentine's Day.After he got home we went to my favorite restaraunt to get Chinese food and then he bought be a single rose.It was so sweet because sometimes he is not to romantic lol.I also liked the Valentine cartoon.

I think it is sometimes more meaningful when a person who is not usually demonstrative in a particular way surprises us than when it happens all of the time. Your screen saver was an adorable gesture on the part of your thoughful husband. Thanks much for sharing!

Nothing special in particular, I don't have any special someone right now. So I spend the day with the whole family, cooked something for them and expressed my appreciation for their being supportive to me in many ways.. You certainly did good on that painting/drawing, I wish I still hand that type of hand till now!;)

Thanks for putting that to my attention, it was supposed to be a link to one of the social networks I'm affiliated at. It was working the first time I checked, but I guess I have to fix it and hopefully it'd work again soon..

Thank you for that very lovely card... reminded me of the ones i received from my students way back then... Well, valentine's day is like any other day to me...we don't celebrate it since my husband believes that it has become to commercial to celebrate... other than that he was not at home since he needed to go the Capital city to take care of some papers for his work abroad... But then... i love hearing other other people having or had a good time celebrating valentine's day...

Yes, my husband is pragmatic and practical at the same time... you should see how he arrange our apartment... not to my taste... so when he leaves for abroad... i will definitely have to rearrange everything...

I think we have a similar situation. Where I came from the women chose all the home things like furniture and dishes and after marrying I found out that my husband wanted to have a say in everything, even the plates I bought. Our aesthetic taste is just about opposite in everything! That is one of the reasons we have two homes, lol.

Oh, yes, we got some lovely cards and small gifts from students on Valentine's Day. Once I baked chocolate chip cookies for my students, too...but "shhhh" as I don't want the ones who didn't get cookies to feel bad. Your husband sounds quite pragmatic.

Wow, what a wonderful card! Loved it! Thanks for the good wishes! I experience nothing special "yesterday" (different time zone). I turned out staying at home all day and did something on helium (turned out I have three rating stars now haha) and my website. I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day because everything is so expensive, not to mention my fiancee is not around. I could say that I had a "peaceful" Valentine's Day which was very good for me! *smiles*

Yes. But I reckon that the third star comes and goes on different days (so I am a bit confused *smiles*). I guess I will keep rating regularly till the BIG day. But I don't think I could write more articles in the coming weeks as I expect I would be a little brain-drain after starting the new job! *smiles* Keep up your good work, still time to go, and you maybe able to get "qualified" for their program in time!

Getting 3 rating stars from Helium in time for the "big payout" is a HUGE valentine. WOW! You really did it! I am going RIGHT over to Helium to take a look. Ackk, now there are only two showing, so obviously Helium giveth and Helium taketh away. Now I am so disappointed. But, look, you another writing star, so if you can get that 3rd rating star back and keep it looks like some bonus dollars will be rolling your way. Guess I'd better get writing before they take my only star away :-(

Hi there, your card is very cute and your drawing is very neat indeed. Like you, I have also created a card for everyone here at myLot. You can see it right below or from my latest discussion thread. While I dedicate that card to you, I also appreciate that you are returning the gesture and have dedicated yours to me. I had a relatively good Valentine's Day by surprising my wife with a personalized card I made for her followed by some roses. I will be having dinner with her only this weekend, and I know we'll both enjoy this. It's not so much the food as in setting aside time together to celebrate this occasion and remembering its special significance. Glad you had a wonderful Valentine's Day too.

Aha, a wonderful challenge, but I fear I will start thinking of my next design only the night before it is due, lol. We shall have to practice our telepathy and see if we can influence one another's designs, lol. My husband who is a real artist just came to look at your card and said it is very good! He likes mine, too, but he has to as I am his valentine.

I had a nice day, but several around had it rough due to various types of illness. I had to work at both of my jobs. This weekend hubby and I will probably go see an original play, written by a young man who is drama professor at a local college. It is not romantic, but is historical. Hubby really wants to go, and he usually goes to the chick flicks I choose. I love to support up and coming young people I know. This was his final thesis.

What wonderful hopes you have expressed for me and thank you so much as well. I like your patriotic avatar, but then maple leaves have always been special to me. My favorite childhood treat was the candy made from brown sugar in the shape of a maple leaf, and my favorite treat as an adult is a 1 oz Gold Maple leaf coin, not to eat but just to have. Say, those puppies are getting pricey since we last checked the market!

Thank you. I don't think being genuine and having a sense of morality and responsibility could possible scare away Mr. Right! But hopefully it would scare away a lot of pretenders. As mum used to say when I was a little bitty thing, "There are a lot of fish in the sea!" And then she added that until I was about 20 I had better just leave them there!

Happy Valentine's to you too my friend. I enjoyed your card to all of us:) My Valentine's Day was actually busy. Me and hubby had nothing planned in special - we usually don't - but my daughter had asked us to have a Valentine's sleepover with a few of her friends since today there was no school - PD day. HUbby wakes up really early for work so he was asleep before 9 pm LOL And the girls kept their promise not to make noise. But alas.. they're just teenagers, right. What started like a quiet night with a few movies to watch ended up with 2 of them starting to remember their "broken hearts" and at 2 am we were all in the floor of my kitchen eating ice cream from the tube and with me hugging them silly LOL Regardless of how I see their problems as an adult, I can understand how painful they are to each one of them and they know that. THat's why they usually come to me when they have a problem and call me mom when we meet outside :) SO anyways, even though I didn't really spend a valentine's of my own, I kind of participated on theirs. WHen they finally calmed down - and finished the ice cream tube :) = we played the rock star game in the playstation and tried to beat each other scores until almost 4 am:) then they went to sleep like babies and I finally had a chance to rest and snuggle beside hubby that was snoring for several hours hehehehehe

It actually was a very good night even though it was a bit sad for them for a bit. SOmetimes it's easy to look at those things with our adult eyes and forget that we were once teenagers and that we felt the things in extremes as they do. I am kind of the mom of most neighborhood kids in here LOL both my daughter's friends and my son's friends feel that our house is their house too and that they can tell me everything - funny enough my daughter is actually the one that is a bit more closed with me , but I guess it's a bit normal, usually it's always our own parents that "don't understand us " LOL

I enjoyed your card and have some questions. How did you make it and get it on here. Did you scan it on, use a special program? Is that how you did the avatar - have noticed it before. belated Happy Valentine's Day to you. whit

It is just a pencil sketch I drew during commercials while watching a movie, and to make it more visible, I inked over the outline with a black gel pen. Then I took a picture of it with my digital camera (a Canon PowerShot 600D). Next, I put the film card in the slot of an HP PhotoSmart printer which automatically opens a Windows folder. I opened the file in PaintShop Pro and filled in the colors, saved the file as JPEG and uploaded. When you reach 500 posts (and you are almost there!) you will be able to upload photos into discussions. My avatar is just a photo taken of a 16 x 20" oil painting that made several years ago Did you draw your avatar?

Hey, I liked it! I definitely enjoyed it very much. Valentine's day is already over here, it was another quiet day, as I'm still single. Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself reading an interesting book, and celebrated in my own way. I liked your drawing, especially the interesting look on the face of the character( girl/lioness) at the right. Do keep treating us with your talents! Happy valentine's day. Rated +.=)

that is a cute e-card!! Our Valentine's Day was just like most days...i stayed home with the kids all day...we tried making a heart shaped cake, haha it turned out okay, but my husband said "somehow you mashed valentine's day & halloween together into a cake!" - I had used frozen strawberries and they looked more like fake blood than strawberries!! At any rate, it tasted good. I got shampoo & lotion for my valentine's gift...most people would think that's strange, but it was sweet of him to get me that stuff...he noticed I was almost out of it & knows that taking a shower is usually the best part of the day for me...other than that, pretty uneventful...oh yeah, i also made fish for the first time for dinner...it turned out good...i baked some whiting filets with lots of butter & garlic...not bad for my first try! Happy V-Day to you too!!

You remind me of the first time I cooked fish. After an acquaintance had told me she needed to make something fast and easy for dinner and said she would probably do fish, I was WOWed and told her so. She snorted and said fish was SOOOO easy. Yeah, right! There was a learning curve for me, but now I agree. It IS easy to cook fish. Congratulations of your first try! Maybe your husband should try to make the next cake. Actually, before we were married, my hubby arranged a little party for at work and brought in a cake he made. It was AWFUL, but the thought counted.
