I am a great lover of history. I love to learn about those who came before us and I love getting a sense of how their lives and thoughts compare to ours today or how they have changed over the centuries. I just find history to be so fascinating...On that note, some of my favorite time periods are the time periods between 1500-1970's. What are some of yours?

My favorite period of history is the reign of Henry VIII through the reign of Elizabeth I in British history. I would say second would be the reign of Charles II and the third would be the French Revolution. I looooove British history and amazingly enough, I married a British man :-) His family still lives in Britain in North Yorkshire and it has been so neat to go back and visit all of the places that I have always read about. I started a blog about my trips to Britain at http://seanandandiestravel.blogspot.com We also take the motorcycle out and look at history here in GA. On this past Wednesday, we went to Washington Ga to a plantation and Robert Toombs antebellum home. I blogged about that too at http://ridetheworldover.blogspot.com I hope that you can check them out and let me know what you think!!

Wow, one of my favorite historical royal families is the Tudors. They are just so fascinating. It's my dream to visit England, although I am a little afraid of flying since 9/11 however. I'm jealous though ;-P I will definitely have to check out your blog, thanks!

Have you read any of Philippa Gregory's books on the Tudors? They include the Other Boleyn Girl, The Constant Princess, The Virgin's Lover, the Boleyn Inheritance, and the Queen's Fool. They are sooooo good.

My favourite time periods would be when some or other great ruler decided they intend to take over the whole known world at that time .. Caesar tried, then Alexander the Great tried, Huns tried, Ghenghis Khan tried ... The Siege of HArfleur by King Richard and of course the great Mughal empire under Babar-Akbar-Humayun. So, for me, it doesnt has to do much with the time in which these evensts occured, what matters more is how they actually changed the world. Peace. :) !!

I think that it is not only time period but also the locations. The times of the warlord and the samurai in Japan interest me. The American civil war especially in the South interests me. I am also a big fan of Robin Hood and King Arthur so the historical period that these legends are from in Britain interest me. The days of Charlemagne in France and Germany. But I think my favorite time period hasn't happened yet. I am a reader of science and technology, both in fiction and non fiction. I would love to be around in days of Star Trek, and Babylon 5, and the Time Machine and so many other times that were visualized by authors.

LOL...You and my husband would get along great. He is loves the history of the samurai of Japan and he loves Star Trek, Star Wars exc... Also, I definately agree about with your statement that location has a lot to do with the greatness of a time period. I love English history as well, more than any other country's history. I love to read about the kings, queens and rebels that lived and thrived through out England in times passed. I also love the history of the American Civil War, as well as the American Wild West. They are all so fascinating!

I love the Civil War Era and the Wild West. The Civil War is an incredibly interesting time in our nation's history I think. The nation was so split, it literally was a brother against brother war. And the Wild West is also very interesting to me. Every thing just starting up, settlements popping up everywhere, laws being made, lines being drawn.
