Who taught you to swim? How old were you?

I was 8 and we were in holidays with some parents. There were a lot of children around. One of my cousin older than me taught me how to swim. This doesn't mean that my mom and my dad haven't try but I think it was the time that I was ready to learn to swim. Which is your favorite style of swiming?

I don't know how to swim. I manage to float on my back a few times, but only in rapid waters, in any other case I go down like a rock... The fact is I never had the chance to learn, I never was in any water higher than my chest.

I never went to a pool because... well... there is no point in going to the pool when you don't know how to swim, does it? I don't really like cooking up in the sun, so I don't like to spend my vacation at the seaside. I was only once on a beach, but during the spring, in a college field trip, to look at the beach morphology and the sedimentary processes that occur on the shoreline.

I did not learn to swim until I was in college. I was seventeen, and took swimming as a college level PE class, because I had to have one. I was really glad I did it too.

My mother when she was 5 she learnt swimming in a pond near her parental home in a village. I am an hydrophobic. My wife learnt swimming from her father by practicing in a well. My son went to a swimming pool but came back after a few days saying he is not keen. I never got into a pool of water till now.

There was this fast flowing stream that divided my village with the next-it was our common bathing place-the waters were usually fresh and soothing in the hot August sun of my country-here we would not just bathe, we would also swim-it was here that I learnt how to swim!

I was born in a small island surrounded by water. I learnt to swim at the age of three. My favourite stroke is free style.

I learned how to swim when I was in 7th grade. I had swimming in P.E. at school and they taught me how to swim. I was about 12 years old then. I guess my favorite style of swimming would have to be regular swimming on my front side.
