my brother, who is in another island of the philippines called me up to tell me that his 2-yr old daughter is scheduled for a surgical procedure to remove her ovarian cyst. and i said, but she's only 2 yrs old! how can a baby have such an ailment? aren't ovarian cysts a problem with adult females? how come she has it? can anybody enlighten me about this?

they were told it's inborn and the baby has been complaining of stomach pains for sometime now. but, presumably, the pedia dismissed the symptoms as just colic or something. it was only when the baby couldn't walk anymore from the pain when an ultrasound was doen and they found the cyst. it's 6 cm big already. can you imagine something that big on a 2-yr old's ovary?

thanks for caring. we're really worried coz she's just too young to undergo a major op like that. but, she's okay now, though still in the recovery but the outlook is good.

Hi there joshdale08! I am really sorry to hear that. I don't really know that much about ovarian cysts but from what I know, it only happens to those who are sexually active. I'm not really sure how that happened. Did you ask your brother what caused the cyst?

they were told it's inborn. i just can't understand how she got it. the baby can't even walk anymore because of the pain. as we "speak" now, she's undergoing the surgery and it will be later when we will know the nature of the cyst.
