The faith is usually a very important issue in people's life and there have been many politicians who tried to take advantage of people's religionary believes in my country. The bad thing is, they are doing that successfully.
Are there any politicians or parties that try to take advantage of religion in your country? I would like to hear your comments

church and state do not work, because not every one belongs to a church nor have religious beliefs. what I have seen in a few instances is hate mongering, but the state that is run by political zealots of a particular faith. If I am not mistaken the reason why the States and Canada were settled was because the state tried to tell people how to believe,in the countries that they fled. it is still happening today, religion and faith to me are private and should remain that way

I definetely believe the religion is a private thing too. Everyone has differences in heart, even their faith might show some differences inside so it's not the job of politicians to play for that. but it is really making me sad that there are many of them and doing that really good, collecting many votes instead of doing it by doing RIGHT things

It is really bad in America. In this presidential election, the candidates are all talking about their "Christian values". The Consitution clearly states that there will be no test of faith in elections.
Mike Huckabee wants to change the Constitution so it will be "to God's standards".
John McCain is always calling America a "Christian Nation" in his speeches.
The Democrats are no better in my opinion. Sure they are getting Christian voters, but as a non-Christian I feel the rest of us are being left out and that is a shame.

Yes this practise is a world-wide phenomena. Politicians know that religious people are prejudice and they are quick to seize this opportunity to get elected. Just last spring in Ontario Canada,A conservative party leader(would be Premier) ran on a platform of "Faith based Schools to receive Government Funding." He not only lost his bid to form the Government but he lost his Seat in the legislature as well.
