Hi all,
just found out my aunt has been auditioned and accepted for a part in the Welsh National Opera in a production of Aida...
problem is I have absolutely no clue about opera and I would love to go and see her do her bit.
Does anyone have any hints and tips that would help me for a night out at the opera, what sort of clothes to wear (is it black tie like the movies) and also what sort of price am I looking at paying. I ask as there is no information available on the theatre website at the moment.
Hope you Mylotians can help me out,
regards,
J

I usually dress casual whenever I visit the opera. There are always plenty of people who arrive suit and tie or fur coat and jewellery, but I have never understood why. I go to the opera purely for the performance and not to take part in a fashion show. The opera can be a warm place to be, so the idea of wearing a tie seems rather foolish to me.
As for the price, it can vary vastly depending on the cast and the choice of seats.
