Sarcastic Remarks...

When in conversation with other people and somebody suddenly becomes sarcastic either to you or to the others in the group, what do you do? Or, when you hear someone not really known to you make a sarcastic remark about you or someone you love, what would you do?Sometimes I just keep quiet so as not to start any word war or something. But if I think that it is way below the belt and I think I have to speak up, I do. Sarcastic people are the way they are because they think that they can always get away with such attitude.
How about you? How do you deal with sarcastic remarks?

Hi dolce_vita! Oh, most of the time I just keep quiet and there are other times, I retaliate when I get pissed with sarcastic remarks. I learned my lesson not to engage them in a "word war". I usually let them have their piece and just get back at them by smiling and look at them condescendingly . Most of these people get a kick out of seeing you get pissed. But just like you said, when it is really way below the belt that is another thing. I won't just smile and sit back, I do retaliate but in a very decent way as much as I can. hehe.. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day! :)

It would be nice to just keep quiet and remain civil at times..

Sarcastic people are not all that way because we think we can get away with that attitude. I'm quite frequently sarcastic, I don't do it because I can get away with it. I do it because it's amusing, plain and simple. Excluding of course the times it happens unintentionally. Such as the comically drawn out Noooo's you may get after asking a plainly obvious question. And not counting times I sound sarcastic and smarmy and all those other fun terms without wanting to. I have a bit of an issue with realizing how I sound to other people. So as you could imagine I sometimes offend people. I just assume anyone offended by sarcastic wit and a smarta...lec sense of humour has no sense of humour them self.
And I mean how can you not be amused by a good sarcastic and smarmy retort you quite plainly walked into? Learn to laugh at yourselves a little people. And remember, it's always better to give than receive. ;p

It really depends on who said it and what mood I am in. Most of the time I just let it go and not let it get to me and other times I have spoken up and said something about it.

I usually just raise my eyebrows and keep quiet.
but if it's way below the belt, that's another story..
I tend to give em a dose of their own medicine.. LOL
