Penfriends?

I used to have a lot of penfriends from all around the world when I was about 15 years old...
It was fun, and interesting, and I learned a lot from their cultures... and they sent pictures of their families, and the place where they lived, and so did I... now with e-mails a thing like that seems almost impossible!
Did you have any penfriends? Would you like to be my mail-friends?

Ok, so now you're making me feel old, lol. Computers did exist when I was a child, but it was not a common thing, and I didn't have one at home. =)
Thank you so much for your response, Simplyman. Want to be my e-pal?

Now a days it would be even easier to do, with emails. You can send pictures by email, too. My daughter lives far away from me, in another province, and she just sent me a bunch of pictures of herself and her dogs and her new fish tank and fish. We keep in tough through emails as well as through phone calls. Today is Sunday and we just finished talking on the phone and she said she has some new pictures she is going to send me. I find this is easier today than it was years ago. Years ago I would have had to wait about a week for them. Also when sent in the email you can enlargen them to see them even better.

It's true Chrislotz, now it's easy to be in touch with people that are far away...
But penpals... it's like all romance is gone. Why would anyone tell me what their town lokks like if I can find it online by myself?
still, I like it, and I'm trying to get e-pals.
Thank you so much for sharing!

When I was a kid i never had any penfriends, I didn't get into writing and stuff until i was much older, I guess you could say the internet has brought a bout a new form , maybe a little less personal sort of pefriendship.

I agree that writing to penpals is a great experience. I only had two penpals when I was in high school, a German girl and a Vietnamese guy. The letters from those two were very well written and interesting! We exchanged photos and everything. I feel that I am richer because of this experience.

I used to have pen pals like you from different part of our country only. And yes it was a learning experience. But I only did it for awhile.

I guess my response would be more or less the same as to your other topic. Internet and e-mail and all is great, but it sort of destroyed the romance of things like penpalls. Nowadays you don't ask for phone-numbers or addresses anymore, you ask for Facebook addresses. And in a way I don't think it's bad, but again, it takes some time and effort to keep in touch with everybody, especially since now you'll have way more e-palls than you used to have pen-palls. But I'll try to write you every now and then, just don't be angry if it sometimes takes a bit longer :-)

Hi Porteno,
thank you so much for your response. I don't think it's bad either, but as you said, romance is gone.
I'll wait for your e-mail or PM then!
