Paid To Click Programs: Too Slow or Just Right?

I have always wondered whether or not Paid to Click programs were worth it. Earning 1 Cent per click seemed very slow and tedious, along with the fact that you only get 5-10 ads per day, if that. Another problem are the referral systems, which are pretty much legalized Ponzi Schemes in the sense that eventually there wouldn't be enough referrals in the world to compensate, but they work in this case due to the fact that there isn't going to be one website that gets the entire Earth population to sign up. Do you think that Paid to Click programs are worth it? Or are they too slow and time consuming to make any REAL money without having an army of referrals?

I started less tha one year ago when I was at home off work for a month. I had no intention of using any money I earnt to pay the bills. Instead I thought I would use the dollars when I visit my sister in USA next year if I managed to earn any. Now I am thrilled because I have 18 sites paying regularly and I love this hobby I have. I have never spent any of my own money, instead I re-invest any earnings to promote my links and get referrals. I come here to myLot to learn and have made many friends here too. I am extremely happy that I started and with effort at the beginning my venture is nor paying off and I should have quite a bit in the kitty by next year.

So do you think I should use my first couple of payouts to promote my referral links? I had always thought of that, but I never really thought it would work. I guess I'll give it a shot.
