ABC and it's values

I have noticed lately how most of ABC's TV shows have homosexual story lines or characters. It appears to be in my opinion the only network to embrace the homosexual culture. I personally do not and choose not. Isn't ABC owned by Disney? Is that their way of embracing all families? I know most of the shows that have these story lines are after the kids should be in bed but what will stop them from airing it earlier if we become immune to what is happening.
More of our young people are turning toward homosexuality and now the TV networks are showing them it's okay.
How do you feel about this?

People don't "turn to homosexuality" as you put it. Either you're gay/lesbian or not. As far as the airing of the shows with that storyline, I think it's only a good thing b/c until people start educating themselves about gays and lesbians, etc., they will forever remain ignorant and fear things they need not!

I have to agree with you here. Either you are or you aren't. There is no such thing as turning to homosexuality. Putting a persons head in the sand doesn't make it go away. I believe in educating people about things. I believe that these stories are good. It educates people and shows that these people are just people nothing more or nothing less.

I completely agree with you on educating people so that they realize that there are good people that happen to be gay/lesbian. Just because they are who they are, does not mean they are to be treated like lepers or something. I live in an area where there is little to no tolerance for many types of people and even though I haven't spent much time here, it has me angry at their ignorance. It's fear and ignorance on any subject that allows room for doubt, wonder, misconceptions, everything. Moderation and education is the right way to go.

Surely what is important is a balance. If you are noticing more stories with a homosexual or lesbian emphasis then the point about balance is being made. If they make only programmes for one sector of society then they are overdoing it. We have one important choice when it comes to TV programmes. If we don't like them, we can always turn the thing off.

This is the second discussion I've responded to about TV "embracing" the homosexual "culture" and I think I find this trend more disturbing than the fact that gays are being portrayed on network shows and commercials. They are a part of our society; most of us have someone in our family or within our "circle" of friends and/or coworkers who are gay so ignoring this segment of our population would be totally unrealistic. Young people seeing homosexuals portrayed on television isn't going to make them become gay since it is NOT a choice but if it does make them more accepting and tolerant I say BRAVO, that's a good thing!
