Do you buy things online? What sort of things do you buy? How do you pay for them? Have you ever had problems buying things online? The only "shopping" I have ever done online is when I used to buy through eBay and mostly it was good with the occassional hiccup of course. Please share your experiences with us.

It is good that you have had no problems with your online shopping mystikel. Are the lavender products you are waiting for coming from Coonawarra Lavender or another supplies? :)

Since I moved to Nicaragua I don't buy anything online. But when I was in the U.S. I bought bed linens online (I could get better quality at a lower price). I also bought books, jewelry, computer, and various other things. The only thing that I ever bought that was a fraud was also the biggest thing I ever bought on line, a flat panel TV. I used Paypal to pay for it and they recovered all but about $80 of my money. I kind of stopped after that unless it was someone I had previously had dealings with online.

It can be a bit off putting when someone steals your money when you buy online. One of the good things about Paypal is that at least you can recover some of your money. Thanks for responding. :)

I love online shopping! I think I like it too much lol I tend to get bored at work sometimes and get distracted by shopping hehe I've never had any bad experiences yet, I use eBay a bit, and I use some other sites to buy books, dvds and perfumes. It's always good for christmas shopping :) I se my credit card for purchases, but only use well known sites and also like to make sure they have that padlock thing in the corner which means they protect your details

I am glad that you have lots of positive experiences shopping online. It is better to use secure sites (those with the padlock) as they are supposed to be secure and safe. Thanks very much for your contribution to the discussion. :)

That can be a trap sometimes caramello, nothing much to do so we just go for a look, and end up with something that we could have managed quite well without. :)

I have purchased many things online, mostly from Amazon (using my Visa) and eBay (using Paypal). I have never had a problem. I always buy from established and reputable sites, though.

I think that is the main thing, i.e. you have to buy from reputable and established sites plus they should have security system so personal details cannot be compromised. Thank you for your contribution to the discussion. :)

For most things, I like to touch them and see them first. But I've bought concert tickets, plane tickets, and other such things online. My husband got his prescription swim goggles online - they were cheaper that way. We have a separate credit card with a fairly low limit for online purchases, and I'm careful not to give out bank information.

I've bought lots of things - books, make up, perfume, jewellery (not the GOOD stuff!), book labels, and hubby has bought lots of things on ebay - he's a collector of Superman memorabilia. Also he's bought USB sticks for the PC. Must be other stuff too!

Oh wow, thanks for that :) I've never sold anything - only bought (even today a book arrived from Amazon :) ) We did list one thing on eBay but it didn't sell. I think that could be just as addictive if we had sold!!

Not me .... but my partner has in the past .... she had a couple of bad experiences so now only buys from those that she knows and trusts. It can be a problem sometimes giving our personal information over the internet .... no matter how good anti-virus, spyware protection is etc. She got a separate credit card from the bank with a limit of just $1000 ..... and now uses that for online shopping. That way if she is scammed .... they won't get too much which is more than most people who have been scammed can say. Buying over the internet can be good and fun and cheap .... if you take care not to get scammed that is.

A good idea to have a separate credit card to use when buying over the internet, and I note that some earlier respondents had said the same actually. There are sometimes bargains to be had if you do shop online, but of course you must take the postage costs into consideration which your partner is probably well aware of. :)

I buy things from eBay all the time. It is my favourite site for shopping and checking out prices online. However i have had a bad experience now wherein i have paid for a product but not yet recieved it and no matter how much i try to contact the buyer does not respond. But i hope ebay will solve this problem for me soon.

I do hope that the matter is resolved with eBay and know how you feel because I had one seller who did that to me. I spent ages chasing her up, several emails and even phoned her but despite repeated promises that the item would be sent, it never came. Then I reported her to eBay, so she left me a negative feedback - the only one I ever got and at that time eBay wouldn't cancel it although they have since changed the rules on that. And I never got my item although eBay did reimburse me some of the costs, as I had paid via Paypal. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion. :)

I hope that by now things have moved forward and you are closer to getting this resolved, i.e. either you have received the product or have your money back.

For quite sometime I am planning to buy online, but the whole problem is shipment charges are costlier than the cost of items I want to buy, so that doubles up the prize and everytime I end up buying nothing.

Yes postage can often be a bit of a problem when buying online and you are right to check the cost of that first. There is no point buying online if it costs you more than it would by shopping locally. Thanks for responding to the discussion. :)

I shop for everything that I possibly can online. I love the convenience of choosing things without a salesperson bothering me, or being in a crowded store. I have used Ebay, amazon, overstock and many other online stores. I can't think of one truly horrible experience that I have had. I usually just use pay pal if possible. If shipping is too high, then I will generally go to the sotre then. But if it is reasonable, like at overstock, then I will order online verses going to a store any day!

It does sound like you have it all organised Geminigirl with regard to shopping online. Yes there are times when it is good not to be bothered by salespeople, but I find that more and more these days they are actually not at all interested in the client/customer. :)

It is good to read that you have had no problems either with buying through eBay or biblio, and also that you can use paypal to pay for things. That certainly makes it a lot easier plus it does give some measure of protection should the item not arrive. :)
