My pharmacy made a mistake with my meds!

Friday I went to my appointment with my psychiatrist and because I'm having such a difficult time with my mothers death she raised the dosage of two of my medications. I've been using the same pharmacy for years because they deliver and Saturday when they delivered my meds they made three mistakes. I'm seeing a new psychiatrist because my previous one retired and they put the wrong name on the bottles, they didn't give me enough seroquel which I need during the day and for sleep but the biggest mistake is they send me the usual 200 mg of Lamictal but she changed it to 150 because she wants me to take 300 mg. a day. The problem is that because of a possible rash from the raise in the Lamictal she wants me to start out with 225 mg. a day and work up to the 300. When I saw the mistake I called them immediately not realizing they close at 12:00 on Saturday and it was already after that. Tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday and they will probably be closed. I know I really need more of the Lamictal than I'm taking so should I just cut one of the 200's and go right into the 300 mg and risk the rash or wait until Wednesday to call them and get the right medication? What would you do?

Call up the pharmacy, they may have an emergency number wehre you can talk to someone. The pharmacy our house uses is closed on Sunday, but they have a call in number and will show up for one hour on Sunday at a given time just for such situations.
It is worth a try.

Unfortunately my pharmacy is such a small one they have no emergency number or any way to get in touch with them. I'm just sticking to my regular dose until Tuesday. Thanks for the advice.

If you are unable to get either your physician or pharmacist on the telephone, I would stick with the dosages that my body was accustomed to until you can get the correct meds on Tuesday from the pharmacy. That way, you risk nothing! It would be horrible to try 300 mg suddenly and have a reaction and end up in the emrgency room over the weekend! I mean, you know that the 200 doesn't cause you problems and it just prolongs by a day or two the increasing of your dosage. Surely you can maintain a few more days without the increase? Best of luck!

lol...I have no choice but to maintain until Tuesday since I have my granddaughter with me for the week. I'm going to stay with my regular dose until Tuesday and then go from there.

I would call your local emergency room and explain the problem. Get a record of that and sue them. That is very serious. They should not conduct buisness that way.

Well for depression, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle anxiety.

It's only my opinion, ctry, but I would hold off on increasing the dosage for now. Those rashes can cause quite a bit of discomfort, and you don't want that. If you know of any good relaxation techniques, now would be a good time to put them into practice. You can also keep yourself relaxed by drinking some tea throughout the day rather than coffee.

I was lucky, my pharmacy made a mistake that I could take care of right away. I had antibiotics for my teeth. They had written take 6 before the appointment and all the rest afterward. There were 24 huge anti-biotic pills.I called my dentist who told me to take 6 before and 2 later plus there were two more times in the bottle.
But the problem is that you noticed on the weekend, this makes things rough. Will your psychiatist be open on Monday? I would try the psych first thing in the AM and see if he's open. If not, then I'd try the pharmacy and see it they're open. If not, then I would call the hospital and ask them what you should do. My Mom had a rash that turned into an allergic reaction and she ended up really sick, so someone from the hospital may want to look at you. Take care and good luck.

Does your Dr have an emergency number?
Is this the only pharmacy in town?
I would call the Dr and see if he/she can call in a RX to a different pharmacy to get you through it.
Best of luck to you.
