I think the poor shot from Yuvraj Singh is the main reason for the downfall. At 115 for 4 and just requiring about 4 runs an over, all that is needed is to take few singles every over. Dhoni and Yuvraj virtually attacked Hogg out of the bowling. Then, you just need to play out the overs, like what Clarke and Hogg did.
Another bad decision is to send Uthappa so late in the innings. What is the point in sending Irfan Pathan up in the order when one of your regular batsmen is going to bat at No. 7 or 8. Ideally, Uthappa should have been sent in at No. 3 so as not to disturb the batting order. Remember, Pathan disappeared from the international arena because of overemphasis on his batting. He was asked to open the innings at one time.
A win could have given much hopes of making it to the finals. Now, the Indians have to fight it out with Sri Lankans, who seems to be a better team.

But not a good captaincy. What is the main reason for using night watchman(irfan pathan).Don't have expierience batsman.

well the most important factor was that we did not have the exp to show aganst the world champions and i think our team was too much over confident that they can make the small total and when things were tought, our young players floppped badly which lead to our defeat. and there are many other things like the decission to play pathan at 3 is a total rubbish thing. he is good at 7 so let him do that. and why do you wanna play a player like uthappa at 7 where he will bat wit players like bajji and the tail. so this is another issue adn then the continious faliours of yuvraj. he again played a recless shot and got out when the team needed him and also he was set.

The australians have executed their plans for various batsmen very well...i think indian batsmen simply threw their wickets.if u consider the dismissals of gambir ,pathan, yuvaraj ,uthappa simply threw their wickets.....they need to work on their shot selection...in other words indian batsmen showed inexperiance in chasing targets(even small scores)...
coming to dhoni, he played well, he was taking help of a runner, but his decision of stealing a risky single proved costly mistake and this was the trning point of the match....
India simply gifted the match to the aussies....

Hello,Biswa! A postpartum can reveal the real cause of the defeat.but i must say that our batsmen were over confident of winning this match and under- estimated the bowlers of Australia.they felt it easy to reach the target and played very badly and the consequence they reaped.another factor that i felt responsible was the decision of the umpire given out to Sachin when he was not actually out.this decision morally diminished the Indian players.thank you.

India's batting was not that good in that match. Anyways India was, after all, playing against Australia. I think India is getting bad at playing this game.
