Do you tend to buy books or get them from the library?

I usually buy a book if it sounds or looks good. I have this thing about books my parents had a lot of books growing up and we did as kids and I loved it. Between me and my husband we have a ton of books. I still go to the library but I often buy books. What do you do?

I buy them and borrow them from the library. I also sell books. Fortunately, I can buy and borrow in the same place. The friends of the library in my town sell books three times a week from a room in the basement. It's great. Hundreds and hundreds of books come through there in first rate condition. Hardbacks are $1.00 and paperbacks are $.50. Most of the new books are in beautiful condition. Many have unclipped dust jacket prices of $50 to $85 and there are sometimes even valuable antiquarian books.

Our library also sells them.We get alot of them from there.I also sell online and we have 3 Libraries that now call us after their sales and we go get the books left over for a donation.I have so much fun going through the books and seeing all the different ones. I also belong to a couple of the ones online where you trade books.

I go to the library first and buy the book when it is really good. Otherwise, I prefer by far to buy books from carboot sales or flea markets: I've found real gems this way, very cheaply, and even if one book may turn out to be crap :) I can afford to take the risk. And, yes, I have tons of books at home and it is becoming ridiculous... But I just love books so much, I can't help it.

My place is full of books. It depends whether I'm likely to read them more than once, as to whether I actually buy them, though. If I think I'm only going to read them once, then I'll borrow them from the library, and if I particularly like them, I will go out and purchase a copy of that originally borrowed.
Some of my books have been gifted but all of them have been either requested by me, or carefully chosen by the person who gave them me.
Brightest Blessings.

I used to only use the library, but in the past couple of years, I have begun to only buy books. I love to be able to pass them on to others!

Buy books. Number one, I never know how long it's going to take me to finish a book. I like to read at my own pace rather tan feel rushed because the due date is coming up. secondly, I like to reread books, just like you can wagtch a movie more than once.

The only books I buy are the ones needed for courses or ones that aren't at the local library. I see no need to waste more money on buying books, when I can just read the book and return it to the library instead. I read quickly, so time isn't an issue. It also helps that returning books frees up space at home, and keeps me from rereading (which I would do if I bought, and while I enjoy rereading it also keeps me from reading new books...).
So: Library.
