Why did you chose to breast feed?

I have now been pumping breast milk since Oct.31/07. I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but when you're stuck to a machine for several hours a day it is. My daughter was premature so when she was born she did not have the ability to breast feed so she was bottle fed my breast milk. I would use a breast pump and then feed her the bottle in the hospital. I don't know if it's because she was bottle fed from the get go, but she never quite got the hang of breast feeding. So I pump. Every three hours, if I'm not at work, I hook myself up and pump. I would really like to quit but I can't. I feel like I owe it to my daughter to give her all the benefits that breast milk will give her even if she can't breastfeed. How long did you breast feed your kids, and why did you breast feed them? Was it because of the health benefits, the convenience or the pressures of society?

I suppose the reasons are several as to why I chose the natural food for my children. the top of the list is the healthiness of it - complete control over what my infant is given etc. the readiness and availability of it - the wonderful bonding time it allowed us - such closeness
