This question might take some thinking. If a tree falls in the woods and no-one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Keep in mind: If nobody's there how do you know sound exists? Keep it posted!

I got confused with this question when I first read it. But thinking about it. Even if there is no one in the woods everybody knows that when a tree falls it will make a sound.

What I am trying to imply is, that it is a given fact that when a tree falls it will make a sound. So even if there is no one in the woods there will still be a sound.

It's a trick question like, which was first the chicken or the egg? Something like that. You are very smart though.

Trees never makes sound they don't have any medium to produce sound. But they do produce sound when it strikes with some thing. when we fall from high altitude we also make sound by shouting. But trees don't have mouth to speak. If this question is asked in another way then, try keeping a tape recorder near the tree and get everybody away from there. And make the place vacant where nobody is there to hear the sound. Now comeback after when you think the tree has fallen down. And then replay the tape recorder, did you hear the falling tree?
