Kids Eating Crack Cocaine

This story happened locally last week about two small children who were removed from the parent's custody after they were discovered eating pieces of crack cocaine. It was reported that the 3-year-old got the crack cocaine from his father's bookbag, and I guess shared it with the eighteen-month-old sibling. I thought this was such a sad story. These two kids had to be hospitalized due to this incident. I am awaiting with interest the trial of the parents to see exactly what kind of defense they can mount. It would be unreasonable, in my opinion, to allow these parents to regain custody of those children. What do you think of this?

I don't think they sould be aloud to regain custody. That is very sad. Espically when a little child has access to getting it. They proberly thought it was candy. I hate how so many people use this mess it only causes problems.

My feelings exactly, Shaun, either that or the children must have been hungry.

That is awful. those children do not belong back in the home with those so-called parents. they are lucky if their children do not become ill or die from eating that junk. I think the parents do not need to have any kind of children at all.

I hope the parents do not get them back until they can prove they can take care of the children. I hope they do get visitation rights only after they straighten up.

The children were removed from the home right away, stephcjh, and I hope it will be a long, long time before these parents can get them back.

I hope those parents get what they deserve. Why in the world would they leave something like that where they could get to it? Little ones get into anything.

Yes, TerryZ, it is but one of many such sad stories that we are hearing constantly. I will be keeping everyone advised about the proceedings once they start.

I think these parents are extremely irresponsible and since they are more concerned about getting their fix, they obviously should not be allowed to reproduce or care for any children, their own or anyone elses because children are just going to continue getting hurt in their presence becuase they obviously don't know that children get into everything, especially being that young.

Like I said previously, highflyingxangel, they are old enough to know that what they were doing is just wrong.

While I was reading this I couldn't help but wonder what was happening to the mins of those poor kids! I know for myself even though I've never done it that I couldn't deal with the things I've heard your mind goes through as an adult! Those parents need to be put away for a very long time and as harsh as it seems I would "fix" both of them so they could not have any more kids!

I imagine they could have got brain damage too even if they lived, which thankfully they did, I hope without brain damage, it's a terrible thing to have happened.

I agree that this is very sad. I hope the children do not suffer any lasting effects, but how will we even know. It could cause lasting behavior and learning disabilities, and we will not be able to tell, because they were so young. I certainly would think the dad would be out of their life, I am not sure about the mother. At least they did not try to cover up what the kids were ingesting. Keep us posted about the outcome.
