What is your ideal job?

At my age, I am still finishing school? Well, to be honest, I am about to go back to school this summer and pick up where I left off a year ago. I stopped school in after the first semester of my second year in college. Sometimes I think if my decisions about pursuing my work and setting my studies aside had been the wrong decision. I must admit that I have been blessed in getting a job before and I also know how to earn extra by tutorials and also in selling things, but it is not really what I envision myself doing for a long term because I want to have a stable and also a fulfilling career. My long term profession is being a pre-school teacher which my plans are putting up my own pre-school. I'm recalling my decisions about postponing school when I should have been a little more persevering and determined to juggle both work and school. I thought I could do it, but the schedule and also the responsibilities at work didn't allow me to make it at least a year in attending school. There are so many 'I wishes...' which I should have foreseen the future of what I would be doing now and where I will be. How about you mylotters, are you that strong? What are the situations and the experiences that you can share with us that you have been so determined about in persevering to reach your goal? It would really be nice to be uplifted with your stories! Thank you!

Hi there! Congrats w/ going back to school!! I am in the process of pursuing the "finances" in order to do the same. I didn't go on to college after highschool. At the time, I felt that I wasn't ready. And, in many respects, I prob wasn't. Struggling to create a secure financial enviornment for my 13mo old son, I sure wish I wouldve made different choices! As I hear about how all my classmates are doing so well w/ their college degrees..its hard to be in a place where I'm basically only making minimum wage...I continue doing what I need to do in hopes that I will be in a position where I can go to school and work and manage my family. I wish you the best of luck in pursuing your education!!!

Hello JKostura! It is nice to hear your ideas and goals in life. I understand how you feel about providing the best for your loved ones, and when you realize that you could be earning more based on the decisions that you would have made, it would probably have been better if chances and the situations have been more convenient for anyone who wants to pursue their dreams through a higher education. Never give up and stay focused! No matter how long it may take us, as long as we have that determination and the perseverance, we will reach our destination and fulfill our goals in life that we want to achieve! Good luck also to you and your plans in going back to school! (^_^)

Come to think of it, my first target career was being a lawyer out of getting inspired by some movies I've seen but that was the time when I was in grade school. I started to like journalism when I was in the middle of my sixth grade. My English teacher told me I was good in English and she liked how I made compositions. So from that time on, I had wanted to pursue journalism. Then eventually, I got interested in broadcast media. So, suddenly I wanted to become a reporter or news anchor. But now, guess what? After trying to get through the mass media for quite some time, I gave it up since they all wanted red tape if not, a strong "backer" (someone who is already working in that TV or radio station I wanted to work for that can back me up on my application). But in fairness to others, they could get through due to luck and they are really good. Since I also got turned off because the idealism, dignity and credibility I thought the mass media generally had all the time, was proven otherwise in many ocassions, so since I gave it up, I worked in other fields like the academe. I thought high school students for 3 years then I worked in a call center. Now, what do I want to do? I want to be a blogger. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Hi clowdine! One thing I also dislike about finding a job, is the fact that the companies look for a back-up. That's merely an ugly part of the office politics. The company should look into the applicants capability and ability to deliver the expectations set for them. Enjoy what you do best, and if the joy comes from the heart, for sure your products will be extraordinary! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

You seem like a hard working person! I understand how you feel when it comes to human contact. There's an advantage and a disadvantage sometimes when you work and meet different types of people. It's rewarding when your job allows you to meet famous people like your job before! (^_^) Keep reaching your dreams!

The job I REALLY wanted was a private investigator -- or at least something in the field of criminal justice. But at this point, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to go to the college I want in order to get that career. The other thing I wanted to do, was be a writer for a living. Well I'm a writer, but it doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to do that for a living either. I'll be finishing high school too, shortly, I hope anyway...but with the job field seemingly getting more difficult to manage, I'm not sure if I'll just be able to pick any job that appeals to me and do it. I may have to just do whatever work I can find will take me to keep going. I don't mind, I'd much rather do what I love, but I'll do something just because I am capable of the job if it pays. Maybe someday I'll land something I enjoy. Ideally, it's something either really interesting, or with animals, which is different enough from day-to-day, which keeps me busy but pays well and gives me flexible hours.

Those are interesting professions that you've chosen. It's sometimes sad if we have to replace them for something else if situations don't permit. If ever you still have a chance to achieve that dream of yours, nothing can be more fulfilling. But one important thing is you enjoy what you do, or perhaps learn how to love it. (^_^) Thank you for your thoughts!

The ideal job for me would be a Historian or Archeologist. I have a passion for history and so being surrounded by it would be so cool. However, I am not into going to school half my life to get there. We can't take our money or our jobs with us in the end of things and so why waste our time on it now? I can still have things and keep a roof over my head without spending half of my life in school and then at a job. I think it's good to get an education and definitely important but I think people spend far too much energy on making money and spending years in school, which they then spend most of their lives trying to pay for in order to get out of debt....

The story of the past have always interested me. It's a nice profession and I have great respect for those who keeps the legacy of the past fresh in our memories. No matter what the new technology offers us with convenience, we will always look back in the past to understand and learn of how things came to be. It's true that getting an education is the most expensive thing, what's also important is making sure that you are picking up the the values and lessons that is applicable in your life. The changes start from within. Thank you for your thoughts!

My ideal job would be a job I can do from home. I have health issues and can't work outside of the home, except to clean other people's houses. That way when I have an attack I can lay down. I have attacks, my inner ear problems, and get so dizzy my whole world is spinning and I need to lay down or I will fall down. It takes about 20 minutes for the spinning to stop. So I can't work a job that I have no where to lay down or an employer that will allow me to lay down. So it would be nice if I could find a legit job working from home. I have tried a lot of these internet jobs and they don't work, not making enough money off of them, so I am talking about a legit job, like an offline company hiring me to do data entry or something of that nature. But I can't find one and I have looked for several years, through the unemployment office and through the newspaper and so on. They are not common and are hard to find and I am just not lucky enough to find one.

I think college is overrated. My husband has 2 Bachelor's degrees from 2 different acredited schools...he is not using either of them - doing a job he really likes that he could have started straight out of high school. I have an associate's degree from a community college that I only have because it was cheaper to pay tuition & keep my health insurance with my parents than get my own health insurance. My own academic advisor told me "it's not worth the piece of paper its written on"...I did learn some good things about computers in school & made some nice friends at the time, but mostly that was all I gained from it. My "dream job" is what I'm doing now, being a stay at home mom. I like to dabble in a lot of other things...I like selling stuff at the flea market, being involved in real estate, creating websites, writing etc...I've had lots of jobs, but this is the one that is the best!

That is nice to hear! That would be my other ideal job, however, luck hasn't come my way yet ;-) I guess you are right, I also know a lot of people who are doing successfully on something that they haven't really prepared for in college. I would say, it is finding the right profession with your passion. I am probably being conscious about how people would look for the accreditation of the person they are dealing with. For my dream profession, I have to make sure that I am also equipped with the knowledge that I can share and impart to the children. The parents would also look for my credibility but I won't stop on pursuing the needed academic background for my own fulfillment also, it will be my gift for my parents that I have finished college and eventually achieve the dream that I've always wanted. Good luck to being fulltime mom! Thank you for your thoughts (^_^)

I prefer a job where I can work on my own, at my own pace, without anyone telling me what to do, by when and/or dealing with customers. I would never make a good customer service rep. I am better at a desk job, in front of a computer with no one to bother me! I would prefer to just have a job where I can work from home.

Retirement is my dream job. But since that won't happen at my age of 22 I just want to be an entrepreneur and work for myself. That can happen in a couple of ways. 1) Have a big idea and capitalize. Or 2) Get as much education as possible in my case I'm going for a J.D. and M.B.A. and will start my own law practice and hopefully grow it into a firm and also invest my money. WORD!
