My cat escaped and came back

Hi, One month back one cat was seen in a very weak condition and my neighbour lady said, all the big cats are attacking it and it is very weak and cannot find food on her own. I tried and it started accepting my food.I give milk and cat food whiskas. She improved now and even runs since three days. Today I took her to vet doctor for allergy. In between I opened the bag, in which I was taking her, little so that she will get air circulation and she escaped (Of course about few yards away)and my husband was scolding me that she will die without food as she cannot find on her own, or some nomads, who are there, will eat it. I was crying and crying and prayed God. You know after three hours, when I opened the door with anticipation, she came in. I am so happy. God is great. But the shock is still there for me. Was I wrong in opening the bag little?
