Euphorbias.. How do you cut them and grow them

February 19, 2008 9:45am CST
I have two euphorbia's that i have been taking care of for two years already and this is the only time it bloomed. Finally! But it has grown up already. I wanted to cut it and plant the one i cut so i could have more of the euphorbia's. What do you suggest i do it?

There are many different species in the family of Euphorbia. An example is Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima)which you wouldn't let dry for weeks. It depends on the species but as a general rule follow what the botanically inclined son says. LOL

I know poinsettia and my euphorbias are not like those. Ill follow the one that the botanically inclined son has suggested. I heard it from someone who has been doing it too..

my son, the botanically inclined, says "cut your euphorbias using a sharp stainless steel knife after which, let the cut stems dry for a couple of weeks, thereby forming a callous. Now, you take that calloused stem and insert it into a pot of slightly damp silica sand like what sand blasters use. They should form roots within a couple of months." I sure hope you find this answer to be helpful - hey, contact me in a few months and let me know. thanks. ciao. this was fun.
